I have a good intent to solve Goldbach's conjecture. Can I get an Abel prize now?
(szemi, 10 October 2009 18:52)

This is not about science, unfortunately. The only lemma we can prove easily: this year (Barack) the limbo is higher than the previous (Martti).
That lemma does not help us to prove any theorem further, but I felt, it's worth to mention - because regardless how low is the butt of diggin' frog ("ásóbéka segge" = worth of Barack's prize), there is always somewhat underneath of it ( = how much worth Martti Ahtisaari's price is).

For optimists: yes, this is certainly an improvement.

The price is not for achievement, but merely a good intent.

You are absolutaly right. He ahcieved absolutaly nothing. How in the world did he get this prize???

The limbo is pretty low - but only because after 8 years of Bush, the real change is that someone actually INTENTS to achieve somewhat, what seem to be good.

The price is not for achievement, but merely a good intent. Do not want to troll and really do not want to spark a fruitless debate, but at least the limbo of the prize THIS year is higher, than what it was last year.

Why would world be shocked about this. After 8 years of stupid politics of Bush, world seen hope in man that believes in conversation with every nation before force. He inherited such a mess from his predessessor, and it can not be solved within year of his presidency. You can not stick finger in everyones eye and think that people will like you.

As far as I can see, his approach is correct: "Live and let live" and what is wrong with that.

One wonders what are the reasons behind the decision to award Obama the Nobel prize.

Obama still continues with drone attacks in Pakistan, increased war skirmishes in Afganistan, continued presence in Iraq, failure to stop expansion of illegal and more importantly immoral Israeli settlements.

I think the Nobel committee's decision has got a lot to do with the repudiation of Bush's eight years in power than with Obam's scnty achievements.

AS we both agreed earlier this problem will be solved as soon as Iran becomes nuclear power ending the monopoly of Israel in this area. Then israelis will start behaving and get down to negotiation table for real talks and not some "let's pretend to be hungry for peace" pseudo-negotiations we witnessed in past coordinated by some AIPEC delagates on behalf of USA.This would mean that Ahmenedijan deserves a Peace Nobel prize for bringing real peace as opposed to some promises given by Obama.
Of course we all know that he would not get one becuse Nobel committee and politically correct puppets are synonims.

"Less than a year after taking office, Mr. Obama is joining an elite group of recognized peacemakers that includes Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, and Martin Luther King, Jr. "

I'm no historian but let me see .....

Mandela spent decades in apartheid South African jail fighting for the emancipation of ethnic Africans.

Dalai Lama campaigned for decades for peace talks with China and domestic freedom for his Tibetan people.

King fought for civil rights for African Americans and ultimately paid with his life.

As for Obama, he achieved ......... oops! Can someone help me out here?
