Peace & Tolerance?

Haris Siljadzic is Izetbegovic's spiritual child, spitting the same poison and making disastrous decisions and statements 'on behalf' of his people (I won't even mention the wannabe Izetbegovic son)..

Fikret Abdic would have done a deal with the Serbs & Croats, but he resigned the Presidency of the SDA to Izetbegovic on the promise that there would be NO WAR.

Izetbegovic knew better of course. So did Zimmerman and the Great US of A who decided it was good to truly finger the EC plan of Carrington-Cutileiro too.

Everyone was ready to negotiate, but 'begovic who plunged his dagger into the heart of peace because he had a 'higher calling', beyond that of mere mortals...

If he were still alive and before the ICTY (as he was under 'secret' indictment), I'd have liked to ask him if it was all worth it?

We know who is smoking the Islamska Deklaracija these days. Maybe the ever so tolerant and left-wing Dutch political classes will unilaterally adopt it*?

All that is needed, we are told, is to fold the RS into the deeply corrupt and bankrupt Bosnian-Croat Federation and peace will reign. EU accession will be rapid. Those who advocate this have long been detached from any kind of resemblance of reality.

The BCF needs to get itself in to political and economic shape first rather than 1: blaming the RS for their own mess; 2: blaming the OHR for not dancing the right tango with them. After that standard accords between it the RS in all relevant areas can be signed.

There is absolutely NO need to change the status of the RS. The EU has already enough instruments to fix acquis communautaire compliance for adhesion to the EU without all this noise. It is just ridiculous.

*That was sarcasm if you didn't get it.

Roberto, please tell us, how could a removal of Dodik help the bosnian muslims getting a better economy?

They are refusing to follow IMF orders and lowering pensions for war veterans (wich they won the elections on)

Even if abandoning the entity of Republika Srpska would come true, the federations finances wouldn't be any better. Or do you think they would?

We all know that a abandoning of RS as an entity and following the federations example of how to run their economy would only ruin the wellrun finances of the serbian half of the country. And the only purpose would be to help the muslim politicians save their faces regarding their incapabilities to run a countrys economy.

If republika Srpska would be dragn down into the financial black hole that the federation now sits in, would that help to create a stable Bosnia Hercegovina you think?

Try to see the inabilities of other politicans than just Dodik, actually he is doing quite good in running RS. If the federation followed his examples concerning economics it would be better for the citizens of the federation.

All Dodik has to do is threaten to hold a referendum on whether to stay or leave Bosnia and the EU/US buckles and falls into line. They are terrified of Bosnia falling apart and having the Bosniaks and Croats at each others throats, as if they are not doing that now. So when Milorad says jump, the EU/US answer how high?

Roberto,

You can blame the EU for giving such unlimted power to Milorad Dodik. They did this in trying to keep Bosnia together when Kosovo was being recognised by members of EU and the US.

They promised the world if Srpska Republika remains with Bosnia i.e. western recognition and full financial assistance. Prior to that time the west was trying to break the Dayton agreement and was attempting enforced integration.

All Dodik has to do is threaten to hold a referendum on whether to stay or leave Bosnia and the EU/US buckles and falls into line. As long as dodik is allowed to remain in office, there will be no progress in bosnia. this will continue to be one ugly sinkhole, politically speaking. that is fine for the (extreme) nationalists, who worked hard for the destruction of bosnia (you can call the accompanying genocide either a sideline or the main event, depending on your POV and how much you value human life.)

dodik should have been removed a long time ago, as well as a number of other crooked bosnian politicians. instead the (intl) political will to do so is lacking, resulting in utter quagmire. and then people ask: what is wrong with those "primitive" Bosnians?? they can never live in peace, and apartheid is the only answer.

of course the truth is that as long as the demagogues are supported and facilitated, there can never be peace -- their own and only objective is to raise tensions and obstruct.

She can only give recommendations and make reports back to Brussels and NO powers of 'negotiation'. Her arrogance has got her absolutely nothing.

Doris Pack's arrogance is quite breathtaking. I think she is genuinely surprised that an (emphatically) elected prime minister of a de facto state would not jump to the instructions of a member of a glorified talking shop created as a fig leaf to cover the essentially undemocratic nature of the EU. I mean, how dare he?

The attitudes towards the Balkans of the "great powers" (and I'd include the Russians in that) stink. It's time that everyone stopped acting like it was 1913.

I didn't realise Doris Pack was European Parliament's Rapporteur for Bosnia-Herzegovina. May God help that country!

Doris should know that Serbians are the troublemakers of Europe simply because we want to be free and independent. We do not bow to nor have a master.

Republika Srpska is a success, completely functional and prospering. Just like that "Kosova" project, BiH will not succeed without Serbia and Serbians. We are not going to integrate into your failures but they must integrate into our success. Now it's time to swallow your pride and to do something constructive for a change.
