Who cares who Albania brings to the party. Who cares about Albania..
who cares? well it seems that your prime and your FM did ,no? They even care so much that they send letters every where,no...
So as you state was the only one to care, may i conclude that others find it normal?

"...Serbia's representatives met with over 70 foreign officials during the UN GA session in New York, to call on other countries as well not to recognize the ethnic Albanian unilateral independence declaration."

Why do you still insist on countries not to recognize Kosovo? Seiously, think about it: 58 countries have thus far recognized Kosovo's independence and they account for more than 2/3 of total World economic output and more than 3/4 of total World PPP.

Insisting on other countries not to recognize Kosovo only further pushes the absurdity of your inability to contribute to stable Balkans and this farce only makes sense to you in Serbia. I'm sure Kosovo has a lot to gain by being recognized by Afghanistan or Fiji, because Kosovo certainly needs to import poppy or cassava, respectively, in order to stabilize a new economy and strengthen new found laws!?

Ron - "What a mess. Time Albanians just admit that they live in a Serbian province ruled by UN!

Nothing more and nothing less!

1244 is still valid! Maybe you can check at UN HQ!"

HAHAHHA, so THAT is why they smuggled sedyu into the UN - They are trying to find some detail in the small print that will allow them independence.

Aw, poor little seddy and snakey. Well you might as well take it on the chin, there's no other way to state it - There are no exceptions to 1244. Kosovo is a part of Serbia, no amount of declarations + support from the US and EU and others can change that fact, so I love the fact that Albo's call Vuk a pitbull cos this pitbull just wont let go. He's got Kosovo by the leg and it ain't going nowhere. R.I.P "Kosova". It was a worthy effort but to no avail.

These Albanians! They are getting away with everything - how do they do it? I mean, first they took over Kosovo now they're about the take over the General Assembly! O my!
LOL what a joke this report was and shame on Jeremic and Tadic beating a dead horse because they can't engage in what Serbia really needs - genuine reform!

The dela is the same for serbia, as decided originally by US, Germany, France and UK:

"Kosovo or EU. If you choose Kosovo, you get none."

Serbia will either integrate or continue to be a rogue state--surrounded by NATO countries this time

Serbian foreigh policy has really lost it this time, complaining about other peoples guests. Here's some points about the things you could do to help Serbia little Vuk:

1. Recognise Kosova to gain EU membership.
2. Fix relations with US.
3. Iran should be the last country you should be making friends with, and
5. Stop interfering with UN business, since when was Serbia quoted for regulations and international law... You still protect war criminals.

(Ptoleme, 29 September 2009 16:33)

Not at all. The other side is supposed to be represented by the UN, NOT represent themselves. That was the deal, but then when did you guy ever honour anything?

I understand Serbia's frustration, but the train has passed. Kosovo is independent, and substitutional arguments like "Sejdiu being in UN building illegally" is just sad.

Jeremic and Tadic have a legion of more important problems to deal with than Kosovo, both domestic in Serbia and in their relationship with the rest of the world.

Tadic's invitation to a so-called "summit" for non-alligned nations (a cold war organization) in 2010 was not a step in the right direction.

Did you see the picture of Mr&Mrs Obama with Mr and Mrs Sejdiu? Very friendly and official.

There is nothing official about meeting in corridors.
You see what you want to see.

I think, as a smart Albanian I am, it was Mr Obama who gave the pass to Kosova delegation. He wanted to give a strong message to the world: friends and foes. Did you see the picture of Mr&Mrs Obama with Mr and Mrs Sejdiu? Very friendly and official. Ah, there was also the Albanian assistant, just to make it friendlier. And Mr Obama was very busy and not available for all the people ttending.

why don't you people read the article??? nobody is disputing the fact that the secreteriat knew or did not know that the albanians were going to bring sedju, snake and whoever to the UN session... what the article says is that the albanian delegation snuck (or smuggled) sedju and snake out of their special room into the general assembly room... which they knew was not allowed... but hey, who are albanians to follow rules or read the article?

david

pre 14 godina

The worst thing about this, is that it gives Albania some visibility. I think the last time we saw it was in the 'Wag the Dog' movie or Borat!

Who cares who Albania brings to the party. Who cares about Albania...they want into Serbia, they need to be called Serbians or Serbo-Albanian if that turns their crank.

'BH_NYC, AO_KS, Adrian, etc : They were "smuggled" into the UN General Assembly room, is what the article says, as opposed to the "special room" where people carrying those passes really belong.
(cbm, 29 September 2009 11:51) '
Read the story again. B92 starts by speculating ‘Sejdiu was most likely taken to the UN building "by Albania"’. Then; ‘Ban Ki-moon's spokesman Brenden Varma has stated....that all UN GA participants have at their disposal a number of passes that they can "give to whomever they want. There is no statement from UN that Albania issued Sejdiu with these passes, and even if they did, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Albania ‘smuggled’ them from room to room as is this story trying to make us believe. Reasons why this story is told in the way it is are pretty obvious to me.

peter, sydney

pre 14 godina

Personally, don't care if Sejdiu gets to see the GA session from this 'special room' or his hotel room.

But interesting to see all the disparaging comments Jeremic is attracting from the opposition - seems the more effective he is at preventing recognitions, the more vitriol comes his way.

Has now been almost 12 weeks since the last recognition of 'pseudo-state'. Previous largest interval between recognitions was 7 weeks - and that 'recognition-drought' occurred just before this one.

Keep up the good work 'little vuk'.

alban:
> Until now Kosova has the recognition from 62 countries and expecting very soon the recognition from 15 countries who already have declared their decision.

Thought that Skender Hyseni said that '24 are very seriously considering recognizing Kosovo in the near future' way back at the start of June?

Guess that's the difference between Hyseni & Jeremic - ie: results.

ps: also come 1st January, that figure of yours for the percentage of UN SC members who've recognised Kosovo is going to drop somewhat:

Out - Libya (No), Burkina Faso (Yes), Vietnam (No), Costa Rica (Yes) & Croatia (Yes);

And very probably in - Brazil (No), Lebanon (No), Nigeria (No), Gabon (No) & Bosnia & Herzegovina (No).

" Jeremić claims that recognizing Kosovo is not a condition that will be put before the government in Belgrade."

Of course not Jeremic. Initially you will be asked to cooperate with the "Republic of Kosovo" and then EU will ask you "well, you cooperate with them, meaning you recognize Kosovo so make it official." Getting in EU is a at least 5 years away and with plenty of obstacles. Try 35 chapters...

Ask France, Germany, Italy, UK and 18 EU nations who your neighbors are. NATO wants out of Kosova and so does EULEX.

P.S. Check Germany's new coalition

P.P.S. Not even Russia supports "new talks on status"

So in other words Sejdiu got a tourist pass. Did it come with a coupon good for $5 off any purchase at the UN Gift Shop/nearest Dunkin Donuts? So they came as private citizens to watch meetings and catch a show.

And as much as I like Jeremic, interpreting "a pragmatic position on Kosovo" as "recognizing" is a little extreme. A "a pragmatic position" may be little more than continuing compromise/cooperation with EULEX. Patience my dear FM. You have the strategic advantage.

Kosovo is all the way a case rooted in 'smuggling'.It shows how far you can go on muscles, being illegal, smuggled, found its way through a small door- if it is pushed (by money).
So Albanians go on continuously to:
smuggle arms, smuggle people,
smuggle recognitions, smuggle themselves in to participate in the UN.
And it works because they are supported by a 'certain' powerful nations who say they do but in reality don't give a damn about the law.

Alban: "Kosova never is been part of Serbia. Under Yugoslav federation it had the status of autonomous region."

No it was an autonomous province within Serbia.

Alban, the only two numbers that matter for Kosovo's recognition are less than a third of UN members. In a binary situation Kosovo is zero when it comes to being a UN member.

BH_NYC "They can give passes to whomever they want, right? How is that smugling then? Why not, Albania INVITED Kosovo to UN session."

I don't think a UN member has a right to unilaterally invite a non-member to a session of the GA. It is as simple as that.

Jeremic just have to get used to sharing the UN room with his Kosovo counterparts. Kosovo delegation has been attending UN sessions for at least a few years now. It's only a matter of time when Kosovo gets enough recognitions and becomes a UN member state just like it did in World Bank and IMF. The world is tired of Serbian non-sense. Plus by killing foreign citizens, they are not doing any help in international community eather.

Jeremic is "running amok" with such declarations. He is truying to impose his will and his views the whole world.Once againe, the civilised world is not tired to advised Belgrade for realistic standpoints infront of Kosovo, but Belgrade leaded by Tadic and Jeremic are trying to play a role of a big player.

How could Albania "smuggled" Kosovo to UN session, when the Uno-leadership said that the Kosovo-Delegation was in possession of valid passes? The frustration of Jeremic is understandable, but he cannot blame Albania in such a way. This shows the chauvinistic-fascistic grimace of some backwarded politicans in Belgrade.

Alban

pre 14 godina

Jeremic didn't protest seriously. He just want to show up as a funny boy.

Kosova never is been part of Serbia. Under Yugoslav federation it had the status of autonomous region. The main reason of Yugoslav heredity claims for Serbia was to justify Kosovo control claims. But if you see the story of Serbian Parliament, you never will find any Kosovar representative neither before or today. I don't know how Serbian authorities can justify this fact that in the clearest way interpret the falsity of their claims.

The idea to put Kosova and Serbia together is the craziest thing can be imagined. Any scenarios who consider Kosova under Serbian occupation mean a big trouble not only for Kosova and Serbia but for the whole region. Last one who didn't just thought but triet to realize that was Slobodan Miloscevic. Everybody knows very well what consequences and outcome it had.

Until now Kosova has the recognition from 62 countries and expecting very soon the recognition from 15 countries who already have declared their decision. Until now Serbia has realized only to slow down further recognitions but not to stop them. On the other side, countries who have recognized the independence of Rep. of Kosova represent 60% of UNSC, 81.5% of EU members, 85.7% of NATO members, 70.2% of Council of Europe etc... . So numbers have the importance given by the quality who rests behind those. I don't think that for the moment it is important the speed of new recognitions as long as they still going on. The most important for the Rep. of Kosova is to realize standards for it's citizens and the country it want to be. Further recognitions should be not only as a political and legal influence but as well as a standards consequence.

Regarding to Serbian big painful efforts to stop the recognition, no one can tell them what to do or not. To me it's sound a big political waste because even if it thinks to get anything as compensation for Kosova recognition, let say kosovar territory in north of Iber or reconfigured borders, I don't think it can get anything from Kosovar part. If there is any option for border change (this is my personal opinion), the only option is joining Albania. We Albanians are one people with two states and two governments. The truth is that two governments for 6 million people are a big weight to hold. I don't know if you can get the meaning but I don't see any reason why one people should keep two states two governments and considering that both of them for a long time have payed the costs, one a long time of communist self-isolation and the other one a long time of occupation.

According to many sources, (anyone can find them easily), in Rep. of Kosova, the ethnic composition is as follows: 92% Albanians, 8% minorities (among them 5% Serbs). With this composition, any normal person can not find any justifiable reason why Kosova should be with Serbia. If Serbs are really claiming Kosova, this can be an other argument to sustain that Mrs. Sabrina p. Ramet is definitely right with her study.

His attendance was probably agreed way before the event, if not with the UN body, at least with the US, UK and other western countries.

“FM Vuk Jeremić told B92 that the Kosovo delegation presence at the UN General Assembly violated the world organization's code of ethnic.”

I never heard of this code’s existence! Perhaps it is a typing error. Anyway, the way Mr. Jeremic is behaving, preserving int. laws and regulations, doing its utmost to uphold the UN codes of ethics, etc etc…, make me believe that he is hopping to become next the UN SG.

“After Serbia lodged a protest to the UN, its General Secretariat conducted an investigation and announced that Fatmir Sejdiu was most likely taken to the UN building "by Albania".”
It is not the first time Mr. Sejdiu has visited UN and entered UN buildings, so there was no need for anyone to show him the way. Maybe Albanian delegation offered him a ride and thus entered the building together.

"The United Nations did not issue passes to the Kosovo representatives to enter the General Assembly hall," Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's spokesman Brenden Varma has stated.”
Then how come they entered the building??!! Kosovo delegation stayed for a week there, and I’m sure they did not enter the first day end leave after a week, but went there in the morning and left in the evening. So how come no one noticed that they are entering this building for a week in a row without being noticed that they have no passes??!! Isn’t there any security of any kind? If someone could enter UN building that easy (everyday in and out for a week) it would have become a memory by now. Mr. Jeremic, I’m afraid you are falling to low when buying these “statements”.

“Jeremić claims that recognizing Kosovo is not a condition that will be put before the government in Belgrade.”

It is not a condition that will be put, but more a condition that is already in place. So, you may be right on this one.

Albanian people and Kosovo people are not different but has the same blood. It is the duty of Albania to help Kosovo and one day we will be one.

So with other words we don't care about your protest because we know that they wont be heard. The reason is because nobody cares about what you think because you and your country are to small to have a saying. Hahaha! What ridiculous title! How the hell can you even 'smuggle' representatives of a state in the 'holy' UN building?
Kosova was invited by Albania to the GA.
The title is just another Serbian media hysteria about Kosova's presence at the GA meeting and it's rightful choice to lobby for more recognitions.

Read this paragraph and stop shouting like little kids. Every UN country has the right to invite whoever they want to, and in this case Albania invited Kosova. How can this be wrong? You will see at the next UN GA Russia will invite South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Will there be any Serb protesting that move?

Out - Libya (No), Burkina Faso (Yes), Vietnam (No), Costa Rica (Yes) & Croatia (Yes);

And very probably in - Brazil (No), Lebanon (No), Nigeria (No), Gabon (No) & Bosnia & Herzegovina (No).

However, I think the important thing here is some of the Western countries are now openly calling for additional conditions on Serbia’s entry into the EU.

'He also explained that all UN GA participants have at their disposal a number of passes that they can "give to whomever they want, allowing them to observe the session from a special room". '

They can give passes to whomever they want, right? How is that smugling then? Why not, Albania INVITED Kosovo to UN session.

Is there any reason why B92 would choose such derogatory words, because I'm a bit puzzled here.

How embarrassing - let in by mates! Puts a bit of a damper on the 'Kosovo is represented and having high level talks at the UN' comments.

Even though nations are allowed a number of passes, I am sure that there must be some sort of vetting system to make sure that invitees are acceptable.

Very shabby vetting by the UN and very politically provocative to Serbia, a UN member.

And why is it Albania who invited Kosovo on their mates passes? Why not eg. the US, France, Germany or the UK? Interesting that they didn't hand their passes over.

I enjoyed the comical antics of Sejdiu at the UN as much as any of you (bonus points if he did it all crazy Belushi style).

However, I think the important thing here is some of the Western countries are now openly calling for additional conditions on Serbia’s entry into the EU.

Mike

pre 14 godina

So in other words Sejdiu got a tourist pass. Did it come with a coupon good for $5 off any purchase at the UN Gift Shop/nearest Dunkin Donuts? So they came as private citizens to watch meetings and catch a show.

And as much as I like Jeremic, interpreting "a pragmatic position on Kosovo" as "recognizing" is a little extreme. A "a pragmatic position" may be little more than continuing compromise/cooperation with EULEX. Patience my dear FM. You have the strategic advantage.

veki

Kosovo is all the way a case rooted in 'smuggling'.It shows how far you can go on muscles, being illegal, smuggled, found its way through a small door- if it is pushed (by money).
So Albanians go on continuously to:
smuggle arms, smuggle people,
smuggle recognitions, smuggle themselves in to participate in the UN.
And it works because they are supported by a 'certain' powerful nations who say they do but in reality don't give a damn about the law.

peter, sydney

pre 14 godina

Out - Libya (No), Burkina Faso (Yes), Vietnam (No), Costa Rica (Yes) & Croatia (Yes);

And very probably in - Brazil (No), Lebanon (No), Nigeria (No), Gabon (No) & Bosnia & Herzegovina (No).

Alem

pre 14 godina
