Intolerance always rears it ugly head during tough economic times, however I think that the recent events are indicative of the hopelessness young people feel in Belgrade.

The sanctions of the 1990s, the bombardments, the corruption and incompotence of the Milosevic Government and successive Nihilist pro-European governments are a brick work in an insurmountable wall that blocks them from their future.

They are weak and angry and they have no one to rebel against so they turn on other vulnerable people.

200 hundred years ago, the vision of young people was not blurred by competing commercialism and materialism. Today young people know who Dolce and Gabbana are, but no one ever told them about Paisius and Avakum.

What can we expect of a generation which has been robbed of its freedom, spiritualism, culture and future?
