Obama's "star power"? The man just caved in to the powerful Jewish lobby in the USA and dared not repeat his earlier demands during a joint meeting with the Israelis and Palestinians for Israel to halt all new settlement buildings in the West Bank! The Palestinians are, to put it diplomatically, most "disappointed".

Exactly. You cannot even be a presidential candidate without AIPEC approval today in US.

It is not an easy task trying to disengage from the greed, arrogance and destructive ways manifested for 8 long years by the Bush administration.

Many of us in Europe and the US loathed every day of the Bush presidency and counted the minutes until he was out and secured in the dusbins of history.

But Obama now has to deal with the monstrous remnants of the Republican party which will do anything in its power just to stop change and progress. It is the party that detest foreigners, people of colour, women, scientists, enviromentalists and anyone who is not one of them. These people will cling to their guns and hatred and are totally indifferent to what America and the world need today.

I do know that Obama has a lot in his plate with the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, the severe economic crisis the republican resistance to his medicare plans and the very difficult subject of climate change.

Obama is not a miracle worker
and it will take time not to restore but just to stop the US downhill. To achieve this he must change attitudes in US and its image abroad. The cancellation of the discredited missile system in Europe was a step in the right direction. He needs more of the same.
