Good on him. At least he was being honest. Its time for Serbs to assimilate in Croatia and finally become Croats like other minorities. You cant stop the inevitable ...

Asked whether he would allow a Serb to be his son-in-law, Kerum said: “Never and it will never happen. That’s how I was raised.”

My mother always said to me that the difference between Serbs and Croatians is that Croatians educate their children to hate other ethnic groups especially Serbs. I guess she was right the Major is living proof. It dosen't surprise me, what does is the response to the story here by the Serb haters, I didn't realise how deep the hatred went. Do they not know of Croatia's genocidal history? Does this not matter to them?

Let me help. Try substituting the word 'Serb for 'Jew' and 'Nazi' for 'Croatian' and re read your comments. Are you still happy with what you write? For example Martha here's yours 'It's time for Jews to assimilate and become Nazi's.' Would that be an OK thing to say? Remember the Croats were Nazis and slaughtered Serbs, Jews and Roma in concentration camps.

Yugoslavia was a beautiful country which I used to visit as a child, I didn't know as a child how many lunatics lived there. Why did God decide to let the lunatics run the asylum?

Seems like Serbs are getting a taste of their own medicine...

Well if this is something that causes Serbs to protest (as it should) what would they do if Croats write an encyclopedia to demonize them in generations to come....

And this still does not compare to what Serbs and Slavic non-entity macedonians are doing to the Albanians. At least Croats are a different and separate country, while albanians have suffered (and still do) from this kind of bigotry by their very own government which is suppose to treat them with equality, respect and dignity.

Come on, at least for some Serbs in this site, hypocrisy has its limits too.

I as a Serb am glad for free speech, unlike what we had in SFRJ. This should be encouraged, instead of what was happening before: 90% of Croats hating us behind our backs, but we believed otherwise. We could have avoided the disaster in the 90's if we've never suppressed free speech during 1945-1991.

At least he is honest, unlike the rest of them who hide behind lies and fake smiles.

I am not surprised by these comments. Wasn't Tudjman exactly the same and he started the whole mess?

Nice to see that he speaks his truth openly. Also good to see that Fascism and Racism is still alive and well with elected officials...300k displaced Serbs from Croatia later....

The Croatian president should fire this guy. Immediatelly.

The winners of situations like this are the Eurosceptics in the EU.

They will use statemetns like this against Croatia and Serbia.

Can't you see you are all ruining your European future?

This non-tolerant, racist, xenophobic lack of a man is the mayor of Split, in a democratic country aspiring to join the EU? Hope someone in the EU at least pressures the Zagreb regime to do the honorable thing and at least replace this pathetic worm.

I beg to differ with the good mayor. Both my parents can trace their roots to Serbia and we have lived in Dalmatia a very long time. We are Catholic and swear alligance to Croatia. Are we not a good addition?

Well my blinkered Mayor!. I wonder how many jobs you yourself will create?.Your attitude smacks of arrogance and you obviously are a very poor advert for Croatia as a whole. Your President is married to someone of Serbian origin. By the way if Slavica Eccelestone turned up in Split you would greet her with open arms, guess what she is a Serbian woman from Bosna.People marry because they love each other, not because they are Catholic or Orthodox. You my friend are very, very sad and deserve no airtime on TV ever again.Croatia is a decent country i know i travel there 3-4 a year and spend my money in good hotels and restaurants and guess what i am of Serbian origin.
