This is the same rubbish I have heard from fanatical Croatians prior to the breakup of Yugoslavia. Croatia was the financial backbone for the whole country and they had to break away and let the Serbs sink.

Now I hear only deadly silence because even these hardliners see that they were telling themselves stories and believing them. It’s only now that we see that Serbia maintained all of these states including Slovenia, which for your information would be insolvent in 3 months if the Austrians/EU were not guaranteeing Slovenia’s reserve banking system.

Serbia did not have to bankrupt Croatia because it knew quite well that if it was left alone long enough it would do the job itself extremely well. What are you going to tell me know, that Kosovars were the financial corner stone, if Australia is any example then the Albanians must all have been collecting unemployment benefits and sending them to Belgrade.

"There has never been, nor will there ever be a Serb in my family,” Kerum told Croatian TV, writes daily Jutarnji List."

Perhaps you should check your family tree more thoroughly. Are you sure that some of your family members aren't those Serbs who were forced to convert to Catholisism during WW2 in order to save their lives?

Serbs can be sure that they are pure Serbs because they never forced a conversion on anyone but you guys????

It's about time someone stood up and told the truth. Realistically 'What has Serbia or the Serbian people ever done for Croatia to help it progress' Answer Nothing..Why should this be any different. During Yu all profits went back to Belgrade. Not only was Croatia bankrupted by Yu, it also had to face the JNA which tried to destroy it. Frankly this has nothing to do with fascism, it's just plain common sense. When will the Serbs realise that they will never be welcome in Croatia, especially in Dalmacija. Do we have to tattoo it on your forehead...

Why do you use the name you use when youre obviously a croaton.Dont be scared no one can reach through the computer. We gave you your language,Serbian, so you can correspond with each other without having to grunt what you want to say.God bless Serbia.

Mike thank you so much for putting it so succintly, he is a seljak, a self-made tycoon who has been given a platform due to his wealth.Someone mentioned class, but that word together with the name Zeljko Kerum dont really go in the same sentence.

@Kosovoa Aust

This is the dumbest answer I ever heard!
Why should we Serbs help our mortal enemy, the Croats,to develop and do some good to them?It makes no sense, rather the opposite.
If you are a sane person you wouldn`t feed the snake that bites you, would you?
Unfortunately many Serbs fell into the Tito trap loosing half a million of Serbian lives to bring this Croatian criminal to power who destroyed and divided our Serbian nation.
Thank god Yugoslavia is no more and with it the notion of "brotherhood and unity".
I hope we have learned from our mistakes.
Our goal must be the establishment of an ethnical pure Serbia that will include all Serbs, without Albanians,Croats,Muslims,Gypsies...
As for this guy,I don`t give a damn about his opinion,he looks like an ape anyway...

It was a Serb who wrote the music to Croatia's beloved national anthem.

There have been many Croatian athletes and celebrities who Croats enjoyed who were/are part Serb or full Serb.

The Croatian basketball player Drazen Petrovic had an ethnic Serb father. The Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija, who was very popular, is ethnic Serb.

And Croatia grew RICHER and more developed as part of Yugoslavia.

They received money for their tourism industry and had many faculties built. Many Serbian enterprises and businesses were actual relocated to Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia by the government. The Yugoslav government had more Croats and Slovenes at the uppermost tiers than Serbs.

Tito was a Croat-Slovene and he made sure Slovenia and Croatia got the most.

Serbs meanwhile had a special tax on them to pay for the development of Kosovo.

GB, a "Kosovar" could be anyone from Kosovo so your question is somewhat pointless. Inter marriage in Yugoslavia was quite common amongst the Serbs, Croats, Slavic Muslims, Macedonians, Slovenes and Montengrins, but much less so amongst Albanians.

What a load of nonsense. Croatia was the 2nd most wealthy repulic in Yugoslavia after Slovenia. Serbia never had any control over Croatia so trying to make out they had some responsibility to help them is daft. The Serbs knew they weren't welcome in Croatia a long time ago, about the time Tudjman was elected.

Mr Mayor Željko Kerum has a short memory. During WW2 700.000 Serbs were killed by croats. But to croats only their victims and their suffering counts. I don't know why Serbia should have "good neighborly relations" with a fascist state. Don't know what good has ever come from croatia?

Sadly, the triplets -racisim, fascism and anti-semitism - thrive in all segments of Croatian society. I personally can't wait to hear reactions once the EU forces Croatia to allow refugees and immigration from south east Asia and Africa and when they alter the characteristics of some small towns...

michael

Pure Racist, bread from the basket of intolerance in Croatia. This is not an isolated incident unfortunately, but the predominate view of most in Croatia, spread by their public representative, accepted by the masses, and glorified by Thompson. No wonder why Croatia wants to errect a statue for Nazi Ante in Zagreb.

"Split Mayor Željko Kerum says that Serbs and Montenegrins have brought a lot of misery to Croats in the past and he would not let one “enter his family.”"

-- This of course rests almost entirely on whether a Serb or Montenegrin would want to enter the family of this seljak.

I reckon we should just banish all these foaming at the mouth racist nationalists to living in the same country - a small portion of bosnia perhaps.

I know that bosnia has had enough share of troubles but once that little piece of land is sealed off around its borders there will be much less extremism, and primitive warmongering behaviour.
