Hi, I was the australian attacked in this article.

Mike, I did nothing at all to provoke this attack, I didn't even see the people previous to it, they just rushed up to me while I was using the public toilet and started punching me in the mouth while I was using the urinal. I started screaming as loud as I could as blood was streaming from my face and they were attacking so hard I was sure they were trying to kill me. I suspect that they attacked me either because they heard me speaking english, or it is related to the gay pride being cancelled and they thought I might be gay simply by looking at my appearance. I didn't feel that I was wearing anything to indicate this (I am not gay, but that is beside the point) - just a singlet and jeans.

There was such a huge amount of hatred in these people and I truly feel sorry for them. I also feel bad for the serbian people as this creates a bad image for them. The day previous I attended my friend's serbian wedding which was full of kind and loving people, and I hope that this event doesn't change how I feel about the people of serbia.

It's a full-out lie that the Muslims and Croats weren't well-armed.

The Tuzla column massacre and the the retreat in Sarajevo at the beginning of the war in the spring of 1992, shows that the Muslims were well-armed.

This doesn't even mention the ENORMOUS quantities of arms from Iran and man other countries which were coming through Croatia and the airport at Tuzla (which was under UN control).

THE SERBIAN CIVILIANS WERE THE FIRST KILLED IN THE WARS.

The Serbs have the most long term refugees from Croatia and Bosnia and Kosovo.

The Croats and Muslims rounded up Serbs in prisons and concentration camps.

The Muslims kept Serbs in GRAIN SILOS such as the one in Tarcin.

The Muslims and Croats released all their hardened criminals from the jails and let them have at it in Serb villages.

What these idiots don't know is that they ruin the good image of Serbia and by doing so, actually end up supporting the anti Serb groups who have worked hard to smear the image of Serbia.
(Nicholas Thompson I'm pretty sure Serbia did that all to it self. During its murderous wars on its mostly unarmed civilian neighbors. All the cleansing destroying their homes and culture in their own country's. All the mass graves that the Serbs are responsible for and their glorious cold hearted murderers criminals most of them are not soldiers. Maybe the Serb society was to lenient now their are a lot of murderess criminals praying on Serbs and any one not 100% Serb. They are still in Serb society in police ,state security operates ,military ,interior ministry. A lot of them were demobalised now they hunt in Serb society think they can harm and kill at will they don't value any ones life.

# A string of attacks against foreigners in recent days. Neo-nazi groups freely put up posters and threaten those people who would attend the pride parade. Time to reign in the far right and fundamentalist clerics in Serbia before a return to the dark ages of the 1990s.
(Sebastian, 20 September 2009 15:13)

regardless of whether this is "typical" or emblematic or periodic, or just way too easily set off -- we need to put a stop to it -- now! i cannot get over all of those lectures about the "immoral" parade types, when it is actually the far right wing (and their idiotic adherents) that are the immoral, violent force.

beyond the obvious, we need to look at the national institutions (incl some media) that overtly and covertly promote these evil, xenophobic attitudes.

the humanoids aren't doing
so well this week, eh?

thank you. roberto

Mr. bganon...if you read my comment on the French assault, you'll see I dont condone these misguided patriots, I'm just saying that you can tell alot about the social average by the brazeness & extent of extremist attacks & the age of the misguided perpetrators. Most Serbs condemn the attacks on foreigners who even show solidarity with Serbia BUT WE SERBS KNOW WE SHOWED SOLIDARITY WITH THE WEST SINCE 1806 & were betrayed in the 90s & 00s & that is the collective frustration the attacks express.

Not a good week for Serbia publicity wise is it? English, French and the Australian have been assaulted. And then there was a pride parade...

You and I got our share of mess, too. Not enough that the entire Pristina is searching for me after I robbed the bank there... after returning to Budapest I did the same here and people witness my car.

Now I am scratching my head, maybe going to Tijuana, MX is the safest way for me... Nice, safe city, peaceful environment, no crime, rich culture.

This week there was somewhat really unholy in the air, indeed. The day I was in PS it was a bank robbery there. I return to BP - than guess what, we had in BP an other bank robbery. Not enough, but the description of the getaway car in BP does 100% match our oldest car.

Now, BG is precisely in the middle - there you have this event plus the unfortunate French guy.

We don't rush to pack tough. In East Palo Alto, California once I landed up with a bullet fired in my car. It only punched my bumper, but the experience was somewhat scary.

At least, these bank robberies and beatings got a wide publicity, so I assume, such events are unusual enough. In East Palo Alto the police did not even take any report - they told me, that is happening there on daily basis.

Not surprising the aRTAs and Kosova[sic]-USAs of the Albanian camp chime in with their cheap shots of self-gratification that are shoddily constructed around selective concern for humanitarianism. But despite the expected trolling, it's certainly hard to swallow the recent spate of attacks on foreigners.

My only concern is this: having been to Belgrade numerous times, and not having a single problem anywhere in the city at any time of the day, what are these foreign nationals doing to raise the eyebrows of the nationalist idiots? Obraz and these other seljaci rarely will provoke something on their own. They either need to see something completely out of the ordinary, or be drawn in to something. What exactly did this Australian man do among other foreign nationals to be targetted? Was it something he said? Something he wore?

Idiots are going to be idiots regardless of ethnicity, but I have never seen these people roaming the streets of Belgrade purposefully looking for people to beat up.

Highduke your post is evidence of the stupidity and brutality of the far right.

You may condone attacks on innocents just because they are foreigners but the vast majority (ie normal) Serbs do not.

But silly statements like yours gives me hopes that ordinary rightists will find racist views too much stomach and realise the evil they are alligned with.

I favour a crackdown on the violence.

Nicholas Thompson

This is so sad. Just when Serbia and Belgrade need to open up to the world as a destination for tourists, these stupid Serb hooligans attack an innocent bystander for no reason.

The damage to Serbia's image is incalculable as the media picks this up all over the world.

What these idiots don't know is that they ruin the good image of Serbia and by doing so, actually end up supporting the anti Serb groups who have worked hard to smear the image of Serbia.

Yet more proof that Serbia is still a nationalist, right wing society not ready for the EU considering the assault on French fans & the cancellation of the Gay parade. Good. Serbs dont want cosmopolitan values, they seem to want tradition instead.
