'As for Russian soldiers it was always common knowledge that their country never spoilled them with good food. '

There have been a couple of Russian soldiers who defected to Georgia from So. Ossetia who claimed the food - or rather, the lack of it - was the main reason. No burning desire to live in a democracy, they were just hungry. These guys were conscript soldiers, I assume they treat their contract soldiers and the cadre better.

'I had impression, there is 100% ban of alcohol for military, but maybe I am wrong.

This is the rule for U.S. forces stationed in Kosovo . Troops stationed there can only buy non-alcoholic beer a the canteen, but are allowed to drink while on leave in Sofia http://www.tffalcon.hqusareur.army.mil/AboutBondsteel.html.

I don't know if you can gain access , but I can make that possible for you. Ops, I forgat that Spansih are packing up and almost gone to the last soldier. the base has been turned over to Istog Municipality.

Thanks, it is appreciated - but not sure how you, I am strictly anti-alcoholic if I am driving.
In return I can help you to visit Pec/Peja Patriarchate - which is as you know - usually impossible. ;-)

Still, as much as I refuse alcohol if I am near of a steering wheel, I wonder why KFOR is not strict. If I am a commander there would be ban on all alcohol for good.

in the rule, the food in ALL armies of East European countries is lousy. Luckily I wasn't serving in any, but there are horror stories about not just Soviet/Russian but Hungarian, etc. army as well. Much needs to be changed. What is in recent times I do not know - but glad, you become a professional on that area, too.

But as I wrote here

please sit down with your friends Mircea and Rote Kapelle and finally decide, because I am still mightly confused who I am.

Ataman,

I am not too famuliar with rules in US or Western military canteens but I am quit sure that vine is allowed in small quantities when there are no combat operations.
As for Russian soldiers it was always common knowledge that their country never spoilled them with good food.
Sure WWII was a though time for food for anybody. At that time Russian soldiers carried kilos of sunflower seeds on their shoulders and subsisted on it. There was nothing shameful about it. That was exceptional times. But what it strange is that even in the last few years - when Russia was swimming in oil billions - her soldiers very hungry and badly taken care of. There were x number of reports about Russian soldiers working for food or their superiors "renting them out" to work on fields and pocketing the money for it.
I genuinely hope that this situation improved lately.

Though nothing is clear about Obama's plan so much fuss and panic around it. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=aCX_VuURzdU0

Most of the Yanks are at a loss cause they really still believe that they are made to rule us and they ( including Joe and Kosovo-USA) feel responsible for this world. Is it a paranoia or the Cold War remnants ?

while other KFOR soldiers ate and lived in real military bases with wine and all kinds of meats and fruits on the table.

Yes, wine flows like rivers... on the table of professional soldiers. So they can aim better, right?

My friend Ataman,

I sugest you go to village italia(Italian military base in Bjelopolje-peja/Pec Municipality and you will see wine and beer on the table where all soldiers have their meals, also in former spanish military base called "tizona" right near Dubrava prison. I have been in both bases on many occasions, especially italian base countless times (officially) and I enjoyed their food and wine.

Russian soldiers still plant potatoes on field to feed themselvs. Russia had a handfull of soldiers in Kosova and these poor fellows were living in tents at Lozica bridge now called Russian Bridge, while other KFOR soldiers ate and lived in real military bases with wine and all kinds of meats and fruits on the table.

'Russia was only bluffing, but Obama is scared to death and has no wits to be a president of superpower.'

I can't agree with you here - we're going to get a more agile (sea-based) system in place sooner under the new plan. New intelligence showed that the Iranians are focusing on short- and intermediate-range rockets, for which the Czech and Polish sites weren't good choices - keeping them just didn't make sense.

Poland should still be happy, since it is still going to get the Patriot missiles it was promised in exchange for taking the ABM system (which would have been useless against Russia, anyway). The Czech PM has started hinting that they'd like to send a Czech astronaut to the Space Lab - they are sure to get something as a consolation prize, with no loss to their national security.

European security in the future will be based on NATO, not bilateral agreements between the U.S. and individual countries. Since Madeleine Albright is heading the rewrite of NATO strategy, I don't think there's much need to worry about any lack of concern for Eastern Europe.

You seem to be more informed than your president. If so why were you so late to reveal the weakness of the Russian soldier ? Because the rest of the world thinks that when it comes to fighting he does not care if he has potato or not if he is to die or not ect. Nobody is eager to meet them on the battle field. This is why you Albanians are encornered in Kosovo.
