When you lived here recently just for some 5 years and got your citizenship that was not enough to think like an American.

Ataman,

So Carter is your hero? Tell it to most Americans and they will lough into your face.
But I can understand you. During little Jimmy you were still living in the glorious socialist world...not here. You don't know how it was here. When you lived here recently just for some 5 years and got your citizenship that was not enough to think like an American. Your thinking and ideology is still 100% European. It is normal. You were here for a short time and even now seem to live in Europe.
As for your case with Stalin I find it completely out of line. Anyway I am glad to see that he was apparently not your hero.
Oh and about Carter sleeping well...It is a real shame if he can do that after his miserable performance.

btw Mr.Carter was the best president.
(Ratko, 17 September 2009 19:31)

Agree to a good degree, Ratko. While Carter deserves critics for some of his decisions (find a politician who does not!), he is the ONLY U.S. president of the recent past who can sleep well and not worry about his conscience.

And all due respect to him for that. What an "achievement": the only president (except Obama) in recent DECADES who is not a criminal or war criminal or both!

What would USA do if Russia built a "shield" in Cuba, we would have WW3, the hypocrisy!
USA chickening out, they can't afford to have Russia on their backs.

To compare your position to the country you so much love to hate: Gorbachyov was a weak man, while Stalin was the best for the country. Here you go. Why don't you worship Stalin than? Such a nice guy.... and strong enough.

Germany, too had some nice dictators... wait, who is on the top of that list?

GREAT NEWS

We certainly do not need this kind of bs shield on our head, let it alone to counter Iran from Poland and Czech Rep, what a non sense.

Amazing how people are immediately considering Obama as a week president simply because he is not a war monger!!
We have all seen what the previous admin did for the world peace and what chaos and destruction they brought wherever they have been.

Another painfull example for the US "friends" to see how they can be dumped to the cause of self interest...

all this nonsense about america needing these missle defense system all over the world to protect them against perceived threats from the so-called axis-of-evil rouge states is delicious tripe that has been served and spoon fed to the western (primarily american) population.

US Joint Chiefs of Staff General James Cartwright in a moment of rare candor boasted: the US has the “capability to take on 15 inbound intercontinental ballistic missiles simultaneously using 30 GBIs [ground-based interceptors]. That’s a heck of a lot more than a rogue nation could fire.”
...

I can see joe likes presidents who are war mongers. Every conflict america is involved in is fabricated and full of lies. Looks like obama needs Russian help with Iran. If he is willing to throw the Poles under the bus to please Putin, imagine what he will do with a useless Kosovo. The Czech Republic and Poland should now withdraw their recognition of Kosovo - a deal's a deal. The president of Georgia should be worried about his balls today. The west is cracking!!!

Joe

Ment,

You have a point with the unreliability of the shield. But it was also obvious since his election that he will scap it to appease the Russians. In his effort to please everybody he appears already even to people, who elected him as a very weak president. He will be like poor Jimmy Carter or even worse. Some friends of mine, who voted for him and are desillusioned with him try to excuse themselves by saying "we voted for the party not for him".

Putting missiles in Central Europe was purely a political move from the start. If missiles were supposed to be against Iran, which has repeatedly stated its intent to target Israel, the smart response would be to put missile IN Israel. I'm sure the Iranains have some grudge against Czechs and Poles, but not enough to fire into Europe. This was purely a Russian deterrent that was smokescreened into deterring Iran.

Good move to abandon such a senseless and provocative program.

Ment

In all fairness, Obama is not backing down even though it may be perceived this way by those who never wished the man well to begin with.

I remember during his campaign, the president did mention that he wanted to re-evaluate the missile defense shield, because he believed it to be too unreliable for the money being thrown at it. Reagan if I remember correctly came to the same conclusion.

Btw, this was an opinion shared by many in the military as well.

Yaroslav

The notion by Kosova-USA that the Star Wars Project by Raegan caused the collapse of the USSR is absurd.

To this day Russia with far less resources isn't that far behind in weapons development.

No. Economics was the cause. Government debt was almost as high as GDP, their was unservicable and growing budget deficit and declining exports, rising imports and the closure of factories.

The only thing Reagan did that caused the collapse is he prevented the building of pipelines from Western Europe to the USSR, i.e. Russia.

Now the pipelines have been built and Russia's future economic is secured.

The US on the otherhand has a huge government debt, a huge and increasing deficit, declining exports, outsourcing of jobs, and a situation where the average factoty worker is 50 years old, no one is replacing him as Americans don't want factory work and immigrants won't becoming because they;re Mexican, African, Indian, Muslim, etc.. and not the historical European.

Amerophiles like Kosova-USA should be concerned about this and not dreaming of Joe Biden replacing Obama and confronting Russia to the point of a new world war.

Dragan

pre 14 godina

I welcome this decision but I know it is based on pure economics, nothing to do with morality. The US is bankrupt, and Obama wants universal health care, which will cost billions to implement. He is realizing that the US can no longer afford everything and run up the credit card even more. In other words, my friends, the US empire is getting weaker by the day, these are the first signs of it.
The military industrial complex which runs the US will not be happy, and will lobby for some other missile plan to protect against more imaginary 'rogue states'. Now you know why they need Camp Bondsteel, in case all the Europeans get smart and kick them out of their countries, they can always build something in Kosovo, they figure, as the albanians will worship them just like they worshiped Ottomans, Germans, Italians and any other colonizers.

However, the Wall Street Journal reported: "The U.S. will base its decision on a determination that Iran's long-range missile program has not progressed as rapidly as previously estimated, reducing the threat to the continental U.S. and major European capitals, according to current and former U.S. officials

Iam sure nobody believed all this "rogue state" nonsense. The Obama administration could tell a genuine threat from an imaginary one -- and its quite obvious that this system was part of an overall plan to push NATO into the Russian heartland.

I applaud Obama's decision to cancel the missile sustem
and rather spend the money on projects at home. (The US couldn't afford this missile system because they are effectively broke.)

Interesting… In light of the Stratfor analysis about relationship Iran-Israel-Russia-USA it seems that USA (Obama) was starting to have its toes on fire. Iran of course does not have missiles capable of reaching Europe (at the moment anyway) but it is definitely capable of mining the Straight of Hormuz. It all comes down to Russia – and in my humble opinion Russia is playing its cards astonishingly well. I suppose the next thing we will see would be tightening the sanctions imposed on Iran?

To compare your position to the country you so much love to hate: Gorbachyov was a weak man, while Stalin was the best for the country. Here you go. Why don't you worship Stalin than? Such a nice guy.... and strong enough.

Germany, too had some nice dictators... wait, who is on the top of that list?

To paraphrase Clinton's quote "its the economy stupid!" during his presidential campaign eons ago, in this case its obviously a case of "its the budget stupid" or rather the lack of it ..... Wake up and smell the coffee, that's free and you need not borrow to the hilt to sniff a cuppa.

btw Mr.Carter was the best president.

When you lived here recently just for some 5 years and got your citizenship that was not enough to think like an American.

But of course, my dear Poglavnik, you know my life better than I. Za Dom! I mean, sorry, kitartás, testvér!
