Venezuela borrows to buy Russian weapons

Hazel, thats a strong prediction, however Chavez is all talk. Chavez knows if he were to touch the US that Venezuala would not exsist.

President Hugo Chavez announced the EUR 1.4bn deal on his weekly television show. He said he borrowed the money so Venezuela would not have to cut spending on social programs.

I've been following Venezuela's "progress" and with the fall in oil prices and lousy economic policies, Chavez's finances have gone down the toilet. To add icing on cake, Venezuela, once a big coffee producer now has to import it.

So what does the superbly gifted Chavez do?
He borrows money to buy toys.

I wish I could say I feel sorry for the Venezuelans, except that they elected him twice. They deserve everything coming to them.

What kind of a comment is that? Why would Venezuela be a threat to usa the war monger? So it's OK for america to train and arm Georgia against Russia but Venezuela is not allowed to buy weapons? The biggest threat in this world is america.

This is called american style paranoia.No wonder that with this mentality almost every US citizen needs a psychiatrist.Just look up an averyage american phone book.You will find almost only names of lawyers and psychiatrists there.Sick country indeed very sick.Hypocracy,overweight,artificial food,Simpsons,South Park,Beavis and Butthead,AIPEC,zero level of moral and endless stupidity.

There is much evidence that the terror group FARC has bases in Venezuela. The leader of the FARC has been caught by the glorious Colombian Army in Ecuador, an ally of Venezuala which led the Venezualian troops' movement. Chavez even threatened Colombia with war, but he knew that his army is not a match for the Colombian army. That explains Venezuela's military built-up along his warmongery. But even with that Russian equipment, the Colombian army supplied with US-arms will obliterate every aggressive attempt Venezuela's. I guess that in a few years Colombia and US will liberate Venezuela from Chavez.

I fully agree with you. I don't expect too much from the present softy Obama administration but the next republican president will surely take care of comrade Chavez. By that time an economically mismanaged Venezuela will be a carbon copy of Cuba. All kind of shortages started already like in all countries who ever tried the "socialist path". In this situation in few years from now the Americans will be received as liberators.

Yes Joe, I am sure that you wish more than anything for the USA to go and bomb Venezuela.

Serbia should be doing the same along with continued production of its' new M-84 Tank.

Every country is sick in some respect. If I look into a New York area evening paper for relaxation (half serious news, half garbage-like sick stories of sickos) I finish the reading very fast. If I click on the Hungarian hirkereso.hu, where I see maybe 20 Hungarian sites reporting national/local news I always get the impression that the Hungarians far outdo the US and most Western countries in mental sickness, corruption, all kind of cheating and in a series of crimes. In October most likely I will go there with my wife for 2-3 weeks. We are not exited at all to go but we have to go. All our acquaintances came back this year desillusioned and sad because of the overall situation in Hungary.
