EU: Romania and Bulgaria

Bulgaria economy is in shambles and in fact the Serbian economy is outpacing them without being in the EU.

Romania has made some strides but still is a very poor country. Whatever remains of its oil resources are being stripped by foreign companies at bargain basement prices. The Croatian economy is far superior and they are not even part of the EU.

Both Croatia and Serbia are far better off to avoid EU membership which is a rape of people and its resources which are decades away to compete with the western democracies.

The serbs posting here are being misled!

The eu may not be perfect for serbia (the country), but it is the best thing for serbs (our people). Its a society with no borders! So RS, CG and smaller serb towns in croatia will all join and become one again. The serbs will be united again (partially). Then we will see whether we care for our brothers and sisters, or whther CCCC is just a saying.

I think that Croatia and Iceland will join the EU together in 2012.

Long live the European Union!
(Mircea, 12 September 2009 12:22)

Mircea, how do you expect EU to take in ANY new memebers after the Irish will vote (onceagain) NO in the referendum this oktober??

Will there be a third referendum next year maybe?

EU is a doomed organisation, the richer western countries can not afford to be net payers year after year, so no new money will flow into the east europe.
This does not mean that there will not be free movement of material and work power, that is a good thing, but EU as it is today, like a big bank shelling out money to poorer members will not continue to exist.

are roads, bridges, hospitals etc are collapsed because of bombs dropped by the democratic eu countries and there directors.Your and their way of showing rational thought are dropping bombs on hospitalsand schools from 30000 feet.I say again I hope Serbia stays out of the eu and prospers like other countries china, brazil, russia and venezuela to name just a few.Why on earth would anyone want some panel, much like the hague, decide what should be done in Serbia. This is a slave mentality.God bless free Sovereign Serbia.God bless Ireland.

So far only the Dutch have put conditions on Serbia. I wonder what conditions will Croatia put on Serbia, after Croatia joins the EU. Rhetoric question: Are there any unsolved issues between Croatia and Serbia?
Same thing if Albania joins before Serbia. You guys have to hurry a little bit.

Mircea:

How much of that 32 billion euros was extracted from the pockets of ordinary people in western EU countries, many of whom could lose their jobs because employers are taking advantage of cheap labour in countries like yours?

Romania still does not satisfy the Copenhagen rules originally designed to ensure that new EU members are economically ready to join. The rest of us must bear the cost of that mistake.

No wonder you talk about the EU as if it were your fairy godmother.

Biljana,

The EU has allocated 32 billion euro in funds for Romania during the period 2007-2013. Also, many multinational companies have come to invest in Romania after my country joined the EU.

Moreover, Romania will join the Schengen Area in 2011 and my country will adopt the euro in 2014-2015.

Please, explain me in what way Romania became better and prosperous place for living after joining the EU.
Can u explain what have so drastically changed in the lives of the average citizens?

The last time I visited Romania, some year ago, I have seen nothing but poverty.
I don’t count overly pumped investments in Bucharest. However, Bucharest’s surface shines, but
under the surface is something else.
I don’t have to mention the infrastructure outside Bucharest. I have seen agriculturists still using
horses instead of modern machinery while going to their agriculture fields.
Not so much of prosperity came around after joining the EU, isn’t it.

Isolation???? Please, give us a break, will you. And, please can you say something new and
more fruitful. You really sound like a broken record.

Hans,

Form what ever EU country you are, keep in mind that the EU is obliged to invest in Serbia since the EU was involved in brutal and bestial bombardment of Serbia for 78 days just for the sake of the USA’s interests. For those 78 days many lives have been lost, let alone infrastructure.
The EU owe us a lots of money and many, many explanations for the dirty deeds in Serbia.

And, yes, Serbia should stay out of the EU.

Albania has a society comparable to the middle ages and Bosnia is too problematic due to the two different states within a state. Therefore these two countries will never join.

Collapsed economy! Look at your own country before pointing a finger at others. Besides, we don't want your stinking money. However, we DEMAND that you pay for the destruction of our country when you bombed our roads, schools and hospitals. When you have paid for those damages you don't have to show your hypocritical faces to us ever again.

Dragoslav,

Keep in mind that Serbia is not Norway or Switzerland.

Serbia needs the EU more than the EU needs Serbia.

Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Albania will all join the EU in the future. What will Serbia do? Remain isolated?

The midget that cant reach the grapes also complains that they taste sour.

And what do you mean by "death"? Since 1957 it avoided deaths... that was the purpose. Yugo was the last death, in the EU, eg Slovenia.
