"EULEX is a product of the Ahtisaari plan, which assumes Kosova's independence.
(Amer, 13 September 2009 16:43)"

So what if Ahtisaari did envisage Eulex? His plans still did not make it past the UNSC. That is why the EU still had to seek UNSC approval to have Eulex deployed UNDER 1244 which recognizes Belgrade's sovereignty.

Ahtisaari assumed a lot of things, but the last I know 1244 is still valid the UN and "Kosova" does not dare to apply for UN membership.

I will say it again, twist and turn as much as Feith (and you) like, just make sure that you guys don't end up dizzy for nothing -- at the end of the day, there's no escaping Eulex's neutral status, however sympathetic Feith may personally be to "Kosova".

'Twist and turn how he like, Feith cannot sidetrack the fact that Eulex is a technical mission ie. it has NO authority pronounce on Kosovo's status, no matter what Feith himself personally prefers.'

"'EULEX is not status-neutral.'

Was this statement one of the concessions EULEX had to make, I wonder?
(Amer, 12 September 2009 23:03)"

Yes definitely, in order to pacify (or hoodwink, depending on whose side one are on) the K-Albanians. Go to Eulex's website where it is stated that EULEX works UNDER the general framework of United Nations Security Resolution 1244.

EU representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith was quoted as saying this morning that he is convinced the agreement does not violate "Kosovo's sovereignty" and that the Ahtisaari package allows the EU mission to sign such documents.

What has Athisaari package got do do with anyhing now?
I thought that package was tossed into the garbage bin since it cannot be presented to the UN.

'Albanians are furious because in the agreement imaginary line between Serbia and "Kosovo" is not referred to as a "international border" between Serbia and "Kosovo", but just as a "administrative line". '

A couple of days ago, Kosova Sot had a translation of the agreement with an image of the first page of the original (in English) - it used the term "border/boundary" to refer to this line in the north.

It's very simple and not confusing at all.

Albanians believe that fact will seriously play against them in the Intl.Court.

As always, they are trying to negotiate and find the middle ground. But to the public it seems more like a lose-lose rather than a win-win situation.

I am not confused.

As long as USA is "welcoming" anything, then it is perfectly clear that it only serve american interests. Should the US be "conserned" about any document getting signed, then it could be a good start..

Here we go again! Another document has been signed but there are 25 different interpretations of it. In what language do they write these protocols? Seems the Serbs are saying one thing to their people and the Albanaisn another to their. Still Serbs don't seem to object, not yet anyway. Albanians are staging new protests. Don't know why if they have been assured it doens't interfear with their dream of an independent Kosovo. Perhaps they have read something between the lines. This whole thing is a mess. And it's getting more and more confusing. What the h..l is the international comunity doing? Can't they speak with one voice?
