Decani Monastery survived a rocket attack in 2007. Part of it's outer wall was destroyed. A few meters higher and it would have severely damaged the church

-- You can thank that to the Italian soldiers who stand their ground and protect it and Pec Patriarchate, unlike the German KFOR soldiers in Prizren than ran in the other direction from the frenzied Albanian mob. Don't think if given the opportunity some of your less savory compatriots wouldn't do the same to Pec and Decani.

1. The church isn't burned or damaged at all. (Some commenters here claim all churches were damaged).

2. These people are standing around, there is no barbed wire, no ghetto style protection with KFOR/NATO.

3. Some are carrying the Serbian flag.
(KOSOVARi, 4 September 2009 15:49)

Ad.1 Gračanica Monastery is not burned, becouse in 2004 swedish soldiers STOPPED Albanian mob, who need burned this UNESCO heritage monument. If You don't remember - 20 swedish soldiers were injured by albanian rioters.

Ad.2 Gračanica Monastery is located inside of Gračanica enclave. So fences are outside - from albanian villages side.

Ad. 3 So?? There is serbian land - so they carrying serbian flags.

So KEK has turned off electricity to mosques and Catholic churches as well.

Perhaps those mossques and churhes don't want to hand over their money to Thaci's gang too.

Maybe we will get some solidarity here after all and get rid of the mafia controlling Kosovo.

You never answered the question. Your reply does not make sense, I thought all of Kosova was Serbian land or territory?

The Decani Monastery is located just outside of Gjakova (Gjakovica) which is a stronghold of Albanian patriots.

I've personally visited the Decani Monastery on my way to Rugova Mts (near Peja, srb: Pec). From what I saw, there was absolutely ZERO damage.

Once those "bills" will have to be paid by those who have served for centuries europe's inside and outside enemies:the ottomans, hitlerists and the new world order. What is late is not over.Otherwise never expect light from the dark side.

Yes Joe, maybe Albanians should go into the monastery and slap those maverick nuns around? Nothing like nuns to raise havoc in a normally peaceful region.

KEK or UCK - does not matter.
Monastery represent Serbian land and albanians will find anything to try repressing it..
That Monastery is there longer than all albania, so it will outlast this latest bravery from albanians..!

KEK? Last time I was in Gracanica, the dozens of generators working were a collective statement of "screw KEK".

Exactly, I agree with you. If you don't to pay any money to the 'terrorists' of Prishtina, then don't get upset when those 'terrorist' stop providing you with free electricity.

By a generator and if you don't want to pay any money to albanians, drive to Serbia and buy the fuel there. Simple.

Anyway, at least don't complain. No payment, no power and everyone is happy.

nikshala, why don't we hear about electricity cuts in the North of Kosovo? Are you suggesting that both Serbians and ethnic Albanians are all paying their electricity bills there? It just goes to show that Serbians are more capable with electricity matters. Our ethnic Albanian citizens are proving themselves incompetent.

MikeC,

Yes there is something wrong - high electricity charge (almost the same as in western europe), and low wages. A lot of people simply can't pay....and yes there are other who do not pay even though they can.

Those people that continually do not pay or at least make an attempt to clear the debt, they get switched off, simple. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. If serbs have been paying and they still got cut off - then they have every right to cry out ethnic cleansing, discrimination, whatever - but thats not the case here. During the 90s many albanians did not accept Serbia as their state but still had to pay if they wanted electricity.

Zoran,

If you are a corrupt politician, you get many other benefits as well as 'free' elecricity. Thats a problem we are trying to get rid off. I am am afraid ordinary albanians do not get the same benefits.

The bottom line is you cannot expect to get free electricity forever. I dare any serb in Serbia that thinks this is wrong, to stop paying their electricity bills and see what happens.

I believe this is a political issue and K. Serbs are being played like pawns by Belgrade, because the news reports on this issue add to their propaganda that serbs in Kosovo are getting prosecuted and forced to leave - when in fact all they have to do is pay 26 euros and agree that they will make future payments. Pretty good deal after 10 years of paying nothing.

Well, unless you are a provincial politician of Albanian ethnicity that is. Some have unpaid bills between €3000 and €5000. I bet they haven't had their electricity switched off.

Jeta Xharra (an ethnic Albanian journalist) has revealed many of these so-called politicians with huge unpaid bills. Check http://www.cafebabel.com/eng/article/2923/jeta-xharra-kosovar-status-is-not-a-solution-to-ev.html

Boy oh boy, Kosovo is becoming more and more of a mess since the occupation. Our ethnic Albanian citizens and their temporary institutions continue to demonstrate incompetence.

Milan

Best solution to the problem is to pay up your due bills.

You are wrong - the best solution is, that the illegal institutions need money from serb citizens.

KEK did the same to my uncle who diden't got a watch to read electricity. This is nothing against serbs or the church but a very good job from KEK. Hopefully one day everybody payes their bills so Kosovars can have electricity 24/7.

Pz

Maybe it would have been more appropriate putting the title something like "The Monastery of Gracanica is not paying electricity", because it is this fact that lead KEK workers to cut it off, and not the vice-versa.

MikeC

If the same rules apply to all, regardless of ethnicity and religion, then there is nothing to say. However, there seems to be some major issues in Kosovo since no one appears to be able to pay for their electricity.
