Perhaps the media over hyped the recession. It seemed they really tried to push the doom and gloom scenario and talk things down and panic stock market investors. But when the smoke has cleared things weren't quite as bad. In the U.S. some people were even saying last fall that store shelves would be empty and were stocking up on staples. They were shrieking that international shipping was coming to a halt due to the credit crisis and so on. They were acting like the sky was falling.

The UK should adopt the Euro as soon as possible.

The day Romania entered the EU, I was at a Romanian gathering in the U.S, I will never forget that day because everybody was sad, they know that in the future when Romanian Leu cease to exist and Euro start being part of Romanian currency, it won't be worth to send money to build houses, buy apartments and send their children to the University, God knows how many thousands of dollars Romanians send to their homeland from Canada and U.S,when Romania changes to Euro it won't be worth sent those dollars to Romania anymore.

Why?To have their economy shrink more than thought.
However much I often oppose british politics I must admit that those guys over the channel have alwas been cleverer than most in continental europe when it comes to defending own interests.

The overall statistics don't mean very much and they can easily be within the scope of accounting errors.

However, the real effects of ever increasing levels of unemployment are still a long way from feeding through - and the first scary efforts to face up to the public debt questions of £1 trillion are still nowehere in sight.
