Because Albania would have to be rerecognized within new borders, and no one will accept that. Albania will become a pariah state again, like under Hoxha, and will remain Europe's black hole.

This is not the 1930's where borders can just be redrawn, this is how WW2 started. The difference is that Nazi Germany was a military, economical and technological powerhouse, Albania is the Africa of Europe, and would not be able to defend itself form even a diplomatic onslaught from the world.

To those posters who believe that Kosovo has gained independance think again?
After the dismal policies of the Clinton / Bush administration the Rooster has come home to roost. Its an elusion .Now you you see it, now you dont, my friends you have heard the expression hung out to dry thats exactly whats happening to you, the West has perfected this brain washing over many decades with serious consequences, if you dont believe me just look back at historical facts . Its all there in black and white.
The garbage we are fed to believe insults the average intelligence of every sound person and those that believe this hog wash need to re examine and question themselves.
My personal opinion is that a bunch of mature school students would do a far better job at managing world affairs than the so called world leaders we have / had .
I wait with anticipation to the out come of the ICJ in the ruling of whether the illegal declaration of independance is in fact legal or that it contravenes international law.
One thing i can say is that if it up holds the declaration democracy has gone out the window and mankind has subjected itself to an era of self destruction.
I leave you with one and only message, no matter what the out come is Kosovo will always be Serbian.

I have got on question for Jeremic.

Would he be happier for Kosova to be recognise as independent country or would he prefer to see Kosova unite Albania?

His attempts to block Kosova's further recognition suggest the second but please englight me!))))
(EA, 29 August 2009 16:15)

I would be happy to enlighten you.
Kosovo will not be allowed to join Albania. That was always specified and not even part of your beloved Athisaar's plan.
Albania would be foolish to even encourage this.

Roberto, you can stop hoping for this as well. You can tell from your post that this would put a smile on your face too but unfortunately for your brothers there supervised independence is all they can hope for. Not real independence but supervised.

At the end of the day even supervised independence is likely to be withdrawn.

the bldg regime knows very well what awaits them at the ICJ, and for that they need to yell all the louder now about "our run-away province," bla bla bla, over which they have not one iota of control, thank god (and nato).

as for missing posts, Kosova/usa, my score was just 3-3, meaning 3 of 3 utterly "disappeared" into the twighlight...

anyone still alive from the stalin era? only you guys and gals could possibly understand.

and in response to this question of Kosovo/a uniting with albania... i have always, i mean always been against this balkanization (a real word in our lang. at least, sad to say) for numerous reasons, most of all because there is no end to it. you just further and further subdivide until there is nothing left but some imaginary "pure" entities. it is so 19th century, and even then it was unrealistic and many were aware of the very cruel and dangerous implications.

nevertheless, it seems to me that this is where things are headed, and no one (here) seems to give a hoot about my (our) pleas for multi-cultural democracy. they just treat it as some kind of naive joke; it all feels so scarily 1930s.

well given that atmosphere, i do surely see kosovo/a being driven into some kind of union with albania, and perhaps with other albanians thrown into the mix.

All countries spend taxpayer money on diplomacy, as do politicians for their daily operations. Look at Nancy Pelosi in the US, $300 thousand every time she flies from DC to California, all on the taxpayers dime. So, it is not just Jeremic. And, do you not think Thaci and company ever pull something out of the government cookie jar? Jeremic has done a great job in his efforts, that i what irritates K_Albanian supporters.

Hahaha, how many times have we heard about this before? "Pristina is gearing up for a BIG diplomatic offensive! Just you wait, a WAVE - a WAVE I say - of recognitions is on its way. Jeremic can't do anything because he's a big weeny." And what do we get in the end? A little country here and there that had nothing to do with Pristina's diplomatic savvy but caved under US pressure. Why just last week Bangladash said it would not recognize Kosovo, despite repeated pressure from Washington.

But then again, it's been quiet since Saudi Arabia's recognition was bought. Then again, I can imagine Riyadh's price tag was a bit much for Pristina's budget: buy small recognitions in Oceania, or one big recognition from Saudi Arabia? Oh what to do with money that could be better spent elsewhere?

Any offensive that cant convince veto-holding members of the UN to recognize Kosovo or to free the EU of energy depenence on Russia is pointless, as these factors keep Kosovo illegal, the energy factor kills the EU's resolve to back Kosovo via EULEX. Albanian leaders know this & the 'offensive' is more to appease the people after the recent Kurti incident because its over for the Albanians.

I think that nobody negates that Mr. Jeremic spoke to UN representatives over Kosovo, since he has no other topic in his agenda for a long time. But I am fully aware that he is not competent at all to impose influence to anyone on report or document completion. The list of Mr. Jeremic’s friends and associates is not any secret any more. Unseen in this entire story is some fresh dozen thousands of Euros wasted as usual to no purpose. So my dear Serbian neighbors; this latest Mr. Jermic’s Rendezvous does not effect any one but Serbian voters. At least, this money leaks from your pockets.

I was glad to see he said there was agreement in the UN role in Kosovo. It sounds like he is accepting the new reality, not the one many here still believe in.

He specified that those would include representatives of Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Nigeria, Vietnam and many other countries that do not have embassies in Belgrade.

and many other countries that do not have embassies in Belgrade.

Just read the above, and the reason I am asking is that alot of pro serb camp in the past have said that Kosova does not have embassies in the countries that have recognized, and my coment on that was: " Only few countries in the world have embassies everywhere becasue they can afford it, and Serbia does not have embassies in every single country" So, I was writte despite the fact that that coment of mine was never posted.

Actually I don't think there is a reason for Serbia to be worried abbout Kosovo's diplomatic efforts. They continuously have announced diplomatic offensives, new recognitions etc, but noone beyond Pristina took ever notice of it. I rather think Mr. Jeremic and his extraordinary good team, did not expect so much success for their efforts and this kind of failure of the (not noticeable ? non exististing?) Kosovo diplomacy. Various times Kosovo-politicians have been received in the white house, State department etc. but all this didn't bring more than recognitions from Micronesia. So than, cheers! The most crucial phase for new recognitians was the first year since declaration. This time could have bring a turn over and domino-effect pro independence. As we know this didn't happen and the recognition process has completely stopped. The thrill is gone, Jeremic won!

I am sure that Pristinas effort will return one or two recognitions. Haiti for sure and maybe some other american former colony in the pacific. I am sure that Jeremic is starting to get panic, just as Kosovo-USA says ;-)
