Meyer added that changes in general in Obama’s foreign policies are negligible, because the administration is currently focused on internal problems, especially with the financial crisis.

And after they declared a incredible 9 trillion $ deficit in the decade to come, place like kosovo will not even be on their map!

Time for all the golden expats to go back to wounderland and start working instead of continuousely wawing patriotic flags for the last year and half with no result at all!

Yes, it was easy to steal a piece of land and pretend that it is yours, but let's see if your nationalistic pride will be strong enough to put the hands in the dirt and do something usefull.

I have my strong doubts and will repeat one more time that less than 1% of the K-A living in Switzerland returned and their most commune comments will summarize in two words: no future!
I can't blame them, I would do certainly the same like a lot of posters here who are continuously hammering us with their wonderland comments but will certainly never return to the no future land!

Ron,
All I am saying is what Clinton and Bush administrations have done and what Obama administration is saying currently. You seem to be adding(wishing) and inferring information that is not there.

Zoran,

Say thanks to the Slovakians for saving international law.

No Kosovo in UN!
No Kosovo in EU!

Of course Ron, I am thanking Slovakia by visiting it as a great holiday destination. I have to admit it is far nicer than I expected, especially the old town. The people are very friendly and it's so much more enjoyable knowning that we are all contributing to saving international law.

We can all learn to live in peace and harmony while stopping the constant division being promoted by the law breakers. I think Obama realises what's going on but understand the effort required to break it so he'll just maintain the status quo for now. If we give it time the bad apples will eventually rot.

(Bill, 25 August 2009 15:44) "

Bill, you are not paying attention. First, an independent Kosovo is not a "reality". A wish perhaps, but at this point not a reality. Second, this is a departure from the previous 2 administrations in that Obama does not really want to be involved. He may get sucked into it, but he does not want to be. Just because you want Kosovo to be independent doesn't make it so. Time will tell.....

the Austro-Hungarian Empire also thought it has everything under control...

and in the end, Serbia liberated all serbian lands.

and the Austrians ended up as a small european province-like country.

the US of A have only some 300 years of history... Serbia is much older... and will prevail, because of the serbian virtues pride, inat, courage, strong character and patience.

we will come back. that´s something you should know.

"Obama did mention that US policy can change but it will take time."

When did he say this? All I've ever heard has been that 'Kosova's independence is irreversible.'

Indeed,at the weekend I tried to convince some of your albanian friends who questioned what slovakia can offer to tourists that this country is worth a visit especially Tatra mountains with its affordable prices and endless activities not to forget the landscape and terrific medicinal bathes with aquaparks.

Balkans not a priority for Obama.

We will see! Obama built his election campaign on bringing change. Some change, with 3 serious Albanian lobbyists in his cabinet. Richard Holbrooke, Hilary Clinton and Joe Biden are in key positions within his administration. They are no friends of the Serbs! In my opinion that trio is a danger to peace not just in the Balkans but world wide.

Zoran

pre 14 godina

Yes, independence is irreversibly blocked and it costs Russia and Serbia next to nothing to maintain that position while those supporting the occupation and unachievable independence are spending millions/billions.

Obama knows there is not much he can do in the Balkans except wait until reality sinks in and our ethnic Albanian citizens realise their only hope for prosperity it to return to the negotiating table. Obama did mention that US policy can change but it will take time.

Lets see how long this takes. Perhaps 10 or 15 years.

Greetings from Bratislava, Slovakia. A nice place for a holiday.

The whole world is Americas priority, and you know that.
it was priority for America Kosovo to become independent and it is. It was priority , not to let a powerfull state in Balkans as it was Serbia , but to balance them it has been done, so what ever it will take to do further , they are not in rush there is no need anymore to bomb Serbia for now.

B92 found an analyst they like, here is the truth: US and its allies can cripple Serbia's economy (IMF) or stop the visa and EU accession dead on its tracks with one phone all. Case solved. Next!

With NATO there, Serbia can't even cause problems anymore. They are just trying to do it incrementally and finish it in 5 years (NATO wants to leave by then)

America need not make the Balkans a priority ever again because it has succeeded in dividing and conquering the whole region. None of these countries/states will ever be as powerful and influential as Yugoslavia once was. The people of the Balkans continue to squabble over crumbs (Kosovo, Republika Srpska, Preševo Valley, Croatia/Slovenia boder dispute, FYROM/Greece name issue) while America continues to gain influence financially and militarily in the once Socialist region.

Patrik

I think Obama just wants to distance himself from the previous Bush and Clinton administrations. He is not likely to offer support to either Belgrade or Kosovo if he can avoid it. Too bad the previous presidents didn't feel that way.

Sure they are busy with Balkanization of Caucasus , Iraq and Afghanistan. So for the time being they have no strength to Balkanize Korean Peninsula, Venezuela , Iran , Central Asia and other regions with different ideology. But be sure as soon as they can they will be back.

Besides they have already reached their main goals by splitting peoples of the region and leaving multiple problems EU cannot solve. On Serbian soil they have also established their biggest military base ect. So now that they have exported problems they have no time for the Balkans …
