From the beginning of the [interrogation] program, there was only one focused and all-important purpose: we sought and we obtained specific information on terrorist plans," said Dick Cheney

The problem is you and your war gang are certainly the only one believing in that rubbish. i pray that you'll end up where you belong too, in the jail!!

Let's give some credit to Obama, he is trying his best but he has too keep an eye on some of the Clinton's ex admin fellows!
Good luck to him for a better world where the UN will become again the rule maker!

It is about time that the Obama admn does something to investigate that nice bush-cheney administration and their role in promoting torture and destroying the most basic civilized precepts like the geneva accords. there is NO defense. the uS is supposed to try to be a leader in promoting human rights, and ends up doing the very worst, as well as making us -- human rights advocates in the US -- look utterly ridiculous.

at any rate, despite the worst of what went on in those awful 8 years, pls don't use it as a perfect excuse to do the same to yr prisoners, etc.

thank you.

Say what you will, but it is difficult to argue the point that torture does not get results. It is even harder to argue that few countries engage in it. In fact, most do to some degree. What's more interesting is what people perceive as the definition of torture. I think the drill in the knee is a no-brainer. But fear of assault/death or waterboarding? I've experienced worse in the schoolyard. Does anyone really think that you can simply reason with some of these fanatics?

It's difficult to believe that people who have read this article actually think the totally corrupt US Justice Department is going to honestly investigate the CIA.

The CIA has never been an intelligence gathering agency. It is the covert action arm of the president's national security council. In that capacity it overthrows or supports foreign governments whilereporting 'intelligence'justifying those activities.
Good examples are CIAs role in overthrowing the Chilean goverment of Allende and the installation of the colonels regime in Greece.

It shapes it's intelligence to support presidential policy ie Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Disinformation is a large part of it's covert action responsibility, and American people are the primary target audience of it's lies.
One recent example would be CIAs assertions that the Taliban in Afganistan had a role to play in 9/11 disaster.

Iam nottrying to bnegative but it will be a total delusion to think that somehow this investigation will get anywhere.\the reason is the torture regime is indredependent with the political, economic and military complex.None of these entities will allow the investigation even to scratch the surface let alone
discovering the truth.
