“Serbians should come to Albania. Albania have last year 27 million turists. Very nice!”

We would wish it to be so but it was actually close to 2.7 million not 27 :) I think it was not purposely written, probably just a grammatical error.
(Marinels, 22 August 2009 20:48)

Yes you're right it wasn't puposely written, we're sure he meant 2.7 but hey just a little dot makes a big difference:)

By the end of the summer Albania will be almost half billion Euros richer from Tourists. I was in the greatest place on Earth and that's Saranda, I'm currently in Kosova and soon flying back to Canada. Was it worth to build the new hiway/tunnel?. That should have been built 10 years ago but hey it's never late. Next summer Albania you better be prepared because that number of tourists will tripple for sure so you better build more Hotels/Restaurants.

Infrastructure is something many people want to get away from. I personally would love to see a country unspoiled and wild by nature. A friend of mine recently was in Albania and many other European countries (Contiki tour, or however you say it), and she said Albania was one of the best countries for that reason, and one she would like to go back to.

majority of holiday makers after exploring the country want the coast what the Slovakia as landlocked country doesn’t offer.

(Marinels, 22 August 2009 20:48)

Well Slovakia is full of recreational tourists it offers terrific and cheap opportunities for lovers of winter sports and other mountain activities(rafting, hiking, climbing etc.)Additionally if you want to have a dip in water(all year round) Slovakia is full of terrific medicinal bathes and aquaparks where swimming or bathing is even more pleasant than in the sea.It si not ashame to learn from slovaks because they have undergone tremendous development in tourist industry in the last decade.Additionally they are in center of Europe and recently established very good low fare airline connections with hundreds of european cities

“For example similarly to Greece , Albania and Bulgaria numerous natural and historic resources beautiful mountains, medieval casstles in very good state of repair you never see in Albania, good food, kind people, rich folklore, hospitality and far better infrastructure than in Albania. So before asking nonsense questions visit that particular place”

My question was related to the following logic: The majority of holiday makers after exploring the country want the coast what the Slovakia as landlocked country doesn’t offer. As for Romania I have hardly heard any of my numerous friends especially from West EU spending holidays there. Since I am not very well aware of situation there I am not going to comment further.

As for good food, kind people and hospitality of Albania I never knew anybody complaining about. During my last holidays I met some Polish tourists who expressed their best impression from the country. Of course I am well aware of the problems with the infrastructure which is one of the disadvantages. However it is changing rapidly all around the country and with the growing number of tourists it is becoming more and more important.

and they'll serve you in Russian, English or Nashki.

The first choice is good enough for me. The second and third is acceptable, too. And since Hungary where we live does not have Jadran (yet... according to some crazy ones) and since the prices here are higher - so CG beats Hungary hands down. But it seems, every one else does the same, Slovakia and Albania included. Either prices are better or the scenery or the seaside or all of it.

he people choose their holiday destination based on the question: Has the country recognize Kosovo!!!
(Marinels, 21 August 2009 18:19)

I agree. Mixing politics with private life is not the best idea.

--------

There are still plenty of countries to visit in Europe that will not recognise "Kosova".
(Zoran, 21 August 2009 16:01)

Indeed - some are worth to visit, some less. For instance, the majority of Prizrenians does recognize "Kosova" but the entire Moldova does not.
Still, I will be sooner in Prizren than in Chisinau - the entire Moldova has less to offer to the tourist then the area of Prizren.
(and I did not mention Decani, Gracanica and may hidden gems accessible by car only). On the other side Moldova is flat like a pizza with best of it being in Romania (painted monasteries for instance).

------

But what can offer Romania and Slovakia!!!! Well I don't expect Serbs to come in Albania but Bulgaria for example is another destination.
(Marinels, 21 August 2009 18:19)

Romania is essentially three major areas. In Moldova to visit the "painted monasteries" you will need probably a week or more. Imagine a church completely painted both inside and outside. And not one, but say, a dozen or so. All this is at least 500 years old, frescoes are genuine and it is in very beautiful setting in mid of Carpathian mountains.

I wasn't much in Valachia - but it is pretty nice, too. Just google on Curtea de Arges and see what I mean.

Transylvania is an interesting mix of medieval Hungary with medieval Valachia and medieval Moldova, with some German (Saxon) influence. Arguably it has more Hungarian things preserved than Hungary itself. So from certain point of view it is more Hungarian than Hungary. The scenery is top-notch. Enough said.

Quite a bit of similar can be said about Slovakia. But like Pristina and Tirana are THE places to avoid for visiting Albanian areas - so is Bucuresti and Bratislava among the lesser priority to see in Romania and Slovakia. Both worth probably a day or so, Bucuresti being tad more interesting. What confuses people - neither Romania nor Slovakia is about the capital cities. But this is pretty common. Here is the list of capital or major cities which are OK, but not the country:

Bucuresti
Bratislava
Zagreb
Sofia
Tirana
Pristina (this is not country IMO, but still on the list)
Skopje
Sofia
Ljubljana
Berlin (worth to visit for museums, but it's NOT the medieval Germany)
Munich (much over-rated, it's NOT the Bavaria and unlike Bavarians think, it's NOT a capital city)

Very much over-hyped is Vienna, IMO. I wasn't terrificly impressed with it ever and I am not a great fan of the Vienna dialect either. I like Saxonian (East) German dialect much better.

Too much of good at the same place: Moscow. In the fact, THAT much and the speed of life is being among the most stressful - it is good (for me) as a train-change place to escape to better places. Golden Ring and Pskov / Novgorod is better for the tourists. Of course in rural setting no one will speak English - but for some mystical reason this is rarely a problem for me.

In Greece there is a little town called Servia where Serbs initially settled when they migrated into Balkans.
Been there? Our cradle!
In our Holy Land, Hilandar?

So, no wonder that Greece, our brotherhood nation, is our favorite destination.

Croatia is also incredible, I rate it together with Greece as the best.

Dragan, Toronto

With prices being very reasonable and hospitality being extremely favourable, its no wonder Greece is a top destination. A group of six plus can take a bus down to a very nice area with great beaches (where alot of staff actually understand Serbian too), accomodation (including breakfast only) for 10 days for 900 Euros...spending money and meals extra. Meanwhile trying doing that in Budva, Petrovac etc...its not gonna happen. In fact, you go down to Montenegro and you'll pay through the rough for accomodation and food...and they'll serve you in Russian, English or Nashki.
