Most tourists in Belgrade, Novi Sad

Most foreign tourists coming to Serbia visit Belgrade and Novi Sad, while Serbian citizens travel to Vrnjačka Banja and Kopaonik most often.

What is wrong with wanting to go to Belgrade or EXIT Festival? I would love to go to both.

How many Brits visit Serbia each year? I've always fancied a long Weekend in Belgrade or EXIT Festival in Novi Sad.

True, Mike. I have been going to a different Serbian city every weekend or two, and the diamonds in the rough like Nis, Kraljevo, and Kragujevac are pretty much neglected in the guidebooks. A good book with a guide to out of the ordinary places would be quite welcome and a good way to introduce tourists to a wonderful country.

"You could have a lot more people visiting Serbia if it was marketed properly."

That's certainly true as travel guides for Serbia are sorely lacking in Western countries. I have a good friend in Belgrade who is writing a series of travel guides in both Serbo-Croatian and English for Serbia, Montenegro, and now Macedonia. They're really good and incredibly thorough for both the major cities and the off the beaten path places. But unless you already know the area or know someone there, most people are not going to be like "hey honey, how about this summer we take the kids and go to Kraljevo?"
