Very true, Little Russia. I also find it convenient that defenders of Chechen bandits don't like to mention Basaev's atrocities committed against school children in Beslan. Also funny is that Berkely called Yanderbaev "pro-Russian." He was a terrorist that was hunted down and killed by Russians in Qatar a few years back, I believe. He could run, but he could not hide...

I'm stunned by ignorance of some comments about Chechnya! Without any knowledge about this region, you repeat me those tired cliches.
When Dudaev came to power, he enacted the law, allowing Chechens to have guns, but other ethnic groups were deprived of it. He began anti-Russian rethoric - slogans of 1991 in Grozny: "Russians, don't leave, we need slaves!".
Before 1994, more than 30 000 Ingushs of Grozny left this city, like Russians, Ukrainians, Armenians and Jews. At the end of the Soviet times, ethnic Russians comprised about 23% of the population. At the moment the first war began Russians and other minorities hardly comprised 3%.

About Wahhabits: wahhabit formations had been led by such field commanders as Hamikhoroyev, Barayev and Akhmadov brothers — all confirmed kidnappers. Hundreds of persons were kidnapped by them for ransom money. Draw the parallel...
They cut heads, skinned their hostages and filmed that. And you dare to blame Russians?
Someone said about shelling Grozny. Hell! Do you know that in the 1994 Russian tanks were ambushed in Grozny and all the night Chechens were shelling them until they were converted into a scrap pile. When soldiers tried to get out of burning tanks they were shot by perfect snipers. Those innocent Chechens were perfectly armed and trained.

This Chechen-Kosovan solidarity with USA sponsoring them both, terrifies me to death.

How hard is to identify the gunman, unless his office was located in the middle of forrest without anybody else around his office.

In Chechnya, Russian forces were engaged in heavy fighting with separatist rebels until a few years ago, though the fighting has become much less intense recently.

It was Yeltsin who blundered into the war with Chechnya and did so in conditions of utter confusion unleashed partly by the collapse of the
Russian state through Western
"shock" therapy policies.

These policies exacerbated the gangsterism of regional elites inherent within the crumbling economic structure of USSR.

The task to totally control fanatical homicidal Chechnyan warlords will be virtually impossible for any
goverment. On the other hand allowing Chechens to live on their own will make Russia proper a dangerous place to live.To keep Chechnya within the Russian federation will be safer but more difficult to achieve.

I think Medvedev could be the turning point for Russia's political outlook and a lot credit goes to Putin for choosing him.The process of slow transition may be designed to maintain social cohesion and avoid the anarchy of the Yeltsin years.

The intersting thing is that the Kadyrow Clan was along the other islamistic clans in the Nothern Caucasus one of the most brutal groups who committed murder of several 10000 ethnic Russians. Due to tactical disagrements with the other clans, they changed side and fought for Moscow. And since then Kadyrow can be called "Hero of Russia".

For Morscow, it doesn't matter how brutal you are or how many Russians you have killed, or even if you are an islamist what the Kadyrow clan is from the very root, all what matters that you kill, torture and rape in the name of Moscow. However, just recently Kadyrow start his own wars with even Pro-Russians like Umar Israilov or Jandarbijev. It appears that Moscow is loosing more and more control of this mad man. With the recognition of Abkazia and SO all people in that region are now aware that border lines there can be redrawn easily. The end of Russian presence has started.

Now it's Kadyrov the Wahabbi doing the killing, torturing and house burnings and rebels striking back when they can. Yesterday two more human rights activists were found dead.

Those regions are ready to explode again. Will Russia be able to carpet bomb them again without world condemnation ? http://adamite.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/grozny281.jpg

Anyway, you cannot totally kill the mountain people, but you can make them angrier.

P.S. It didn't start as an islamist movement, the wahhabis joined them later in the game.

The Ingush interior ministry said an unidentified gunman shot and killed Amerkhanov at point-blank range in his office.
