Putin on another "shirtless vacation"

Two years after he first bared his chest for photographers during a holiday, Russian PM Vladimir Putin was back in the remote Tuva region of Siberia.

Szemi,

I agree. The power and influence of the media is incredible everywhere. Without some regulations it can be very destructive. Your had very good examples. Since I hardly watch TV anymore (get news in the Internet) and don't have young children I am less aware of the destructive side.

In the US the message is very different. The pictures of a bare-chested Putin riding a horse through mountain scenery remind people of a recent Hollywood film about gay cowboys.
(Joe, 7 August 2009 14:58)

Indeed and all this is a very sad phenomenon the result of very ugly ,sneaky and socialy destructive brainwashing carried out by Hollywood and some other even more destructive media organs such as RTL klub or TV2 in Hungary for example(but the same phenomenon applies to all "democratic, developed" world).Unfortunatelly we have a lot of films on commercial TV chanels aired well before 10 PM which show muscular gays kissing or even having sex with each other. Thanks to these negative and destructive process nowdays muscular males are assosiated rather with gays. Some weeks ago I went with my friends and their families to an aquapark near Budapest. My friend's daughter caught sight of a muscular well build teenage guy of her age cathegory. She told me that she liked the guy very much but was afraid that he may be gay because of his muscular built. What a stupidity. And all this is the effect of Hollywood rubbish like this movie about gay cowboys.I remember when I was a child we watched black and white Zorro,Tarzan and Wyatt Earp films. They were our role-models as well as Bruce Lee.My friens and I all wanted to be like these guys.We all joined a marial arts or modern penthatlon club and wanted to be very sporty and full of muscles. At that time it was very musculine. We often argue on this forum about who is right or wrong in certain armed conflicts.I think the phenomenon I have just described is more destructive then all wars together. This brainwashing must be shown a red card soon.

Yes, he is sexy
(Little Russia, 7 August 2009 09:01)

Not for me, sorry. My second home and where my life was influenced significantly is Santa Clara Valley ("Silicon Valley"), not San Francisco's Castro District.

Santa Clara is NOT, NOT and NOT San Francisco. It is full of Taiwanese/Chinese, Russian, Iranian, Viet engineers.

Maybe it is a more conservative(?) society than SF, but we also have better restaurants and more jobs. But there is no fancy bridge across the Bay, only a simple one.

To other certain Russian + Romanian posters whose posts I missed: Santa Clara is not even near LA. Mention both at the same time is a big offense. So please don't. But am I a Mongolian Ashkenazi or Nigerian Viking is merely up to your naming convention and/or convenience. Looks like what is "Ashkenazi" for one, is "Mongolian" for the other. Either is fine with me, I don't consider either as a swearword. So agreed, I am a Mongolian Ashkenazi, that part of topic is considered to be closed.

Strange, no comments on "Turkey agrees to start South Stream work", a serious step towards increasing of Russian influence, but a lot of malicious comments about Putin's healthy air.

Actually, what I read in some western blogs is explicit or implicit envy - who has such healthy and ... yes, sexy leader? Secretary in my firm has a photo of Putin at her workplace, sometimes ago I placed as a wallpaper Putin's photo with his dog. Yes, he is sexy, I like him and it's cool.

Putin is just about to ask Thaci for a loan so as to improve Russia's transport system.

Iam sure Thaci will reciprocate.

(Leonidas, 6 August 2009 21:12)

Why not? In the theory, Felcsút FC - Dinamo Tbilisi 8:0 is also possible, with certain forward whose name is Viktor Orbán scoring all eight.

BTW: congratulation to Crevena Zvezda. Maybe I can't get past my Soviet past and I just can't see Dinamo Tbilisi as not "our" team. On the other hand, same applies to Zvezda. Hence, unless it's a tie, we will win.

Ataman,

Hungarians have their own sport stars among politicians as well such as Vica the forward of Felcsút FC [link] [link] or gordica the goalkeeper of 43 számú Építõk [link]

(szemi, 6 August 2009 20:19)

LOL, today is Dinamo Tbilisi versus Crevena Zvezda and you dare to mention "Felcsút FC" versus "43 számú Építõk" ?

Forget them quickly, please. The original topic was about profis (as good or as bad as they are) - not some nobodies from a third class amateur liga. ;-)

Nothing wrong with looking fit and active. (Leonidas, 6 August 2009 17:57) Of course nothing wrong. There are several great historic figures and leaders portreyed looking fit and muscular. Just think about sculptures showing King Leonidas of Sparta.

Wow, the world judo master flexing his flubby muscles.
Shame on you for remanding people of Stalin all over again.

Well does it mean that another big muscle flexer the governor of California is also a follower of Stalin?Or maybe as an austrian he rather prefers Hitler.

Putin was a high-ranking officer of an other three-letter organization who went through all kind of training.

Hence he is in better shape than what you expect from a 57 year old. Regardless, do we like his politics or not. But I am afraid, he is not interested in my opinion.

BTW: Tuva is a terrific place for extensive outdoor activities. But I am not sure, I am really 'qualified' for that being a coach potato.
