The bottom line is if these two talented & educated journalists FOLLOWED protocol & didn't JEOPARDIZE their "freedom" they would have NEVER been put in this situation.

"As smart as they are is as dumb as they are."

I am glad that they made it home to see their children grow up, though...for whatever that's worth.

Obama is losing in a last survey, and Clinton's popularity is on the rise. With Mrs Clinton as S of State, I am wondering who is the real President?

Glad, they are out of trouble. Next time they should rather travel to Crater Lake or Yosemite. How about Guča?

My estimate:

40% responsibility bears the TV station. How you spell: "adequate training"?

40% responsibility bears the NK regime. 12 years? Spying on what? What kind of court system is it? How you spell "kangaroo"?

20% responsibility bear the girls. They are ethnic Chinese and Chinese are rarely blond. How you spell "dumbness"?

To bad, Bill is 10 years older now and all he can have this time is just a nice memory about girls with the name "Monica" instead of more action.

"I thought diplomacy was the job of the secretary of state and not that of an ex-president."

Think again! Ex-presidents and ex-Sec of State play a HUGE role. How many times has Kissinger been to China in the past decade on behalf of USA? Ultimately, results matter, no matter who does it

I think the N Koreans never really intended for these 2 journalists to serve out their 12-year sentences. 5 months would just about suffice, ie. long enough to drill into their thick heads that it is not their God given right to violate other countries' laws just because they are American.

End of the day, these 2 dames definitely won't dare hatch another reckless border-violation-adventure- for-the-thrill-of-it anytime soon!

I guess yesterdasy's lesson in North Korea was that one should never send in the current Secretary of State to get a job done when said Secretary's husband is all the more effective.

No, we use whoever is most appropriate - Jimmy Carter went to No. Korea when Bill Clinton was president, for example. Kissinger still sometimes visits particular countries for particular reasons - after you get to a certain level, you are considered to be "available" for the rest of your life.

This is all Hollywood stuff with the script writers stampeding to write the scripts for the next movie.

I thought diplomacy was the job of the secretary of state and not that of an ex-president.It's either the administration hasn't got a clue on how to deal with North Korea or Hillary tries to jump start Bills career.

Still wonder if Bill would have gone to N. Korea if the two Journalists were male.I am glad though to see them released.
