Armenia has a very strong and politically powerful lobby within the USA, as well as success in maintaining good relations with Russia. This is a level of political maturity that Serbia seems a million years away from.

but isn't serbia maintaining good relations with both russia and usa, right now, not a million years from now? and i also don't understand why people keep forgetting that serbs had heavier losses than any other group in the balkans during the 20th century or did the ww2 and ww1 never happen? armenians were victimised in a way that's very similar to what serbs went through. and i can even see similarities between wars in karabakh and bosnia. and the fact that turkey won't recognise and appologise for the suffering of armenians is comparable to croatian (and albanian) refusal to accept that their own military forces did terrible things to serbs.

Dragan, you are right, but a few times a motion went before the US congress and it tended to die because of sensitivities towards Turkey. After all, Bush tried very hard to persuade Turkey to allow US military to transit the country to facilitate the war in Iraq. Bush even promised Turkey EU membership, which promotly upset France, Germany and Austria and probably set back their EU ambitions by a generation.

Ljajim- I don't know why you keep crying victim and placing the K-Albs in the same league as Armenians. The Armenians suffered a terrible fate in WW I and prior to that suffered terribly under the Ottomans-just like the Serbs. Just to remind you-the Albanians went through a mass conversion to become Muslims (the Armenians/Serbs did not) thus becoming the ruling class with the ability to do everything you wanted with the subjugated Serbs. And that my friend is why you K-ALbs have such a hate complex of Serbs. You bet on the losing side and now you are in Europe but you're culture really doesn't belong in Europe. Its only a matter of time before the Yanks are finished and Europeans say enough is enough. You're "leaders" are better off accepting 'maximum autonomy, less than independence' because the only future you have is drugs, scrap metal and serving NATO in Afghanistan.

Liam,

You mention, "...Armenia has a very strong and politically powerful lobby within the USA."
So why is that the U.S. still hasn't acknowledged the genocide? Fear of upsetting Ankara or the Islamic world? When will Obama lay a wreath in Armenia?

"According to Jeremic, Tadic supports the Azeri Muslim "territorial integrity" regarding Nagorni K, I wonder why he went to Armenia."
(aRTA, 29 July 2009 14:46)

Because this is how mature politics work. Azerbaijan hasn't recognized Kosovo most likely because of the NK issue. Just like Georgia. Serbia and Armenia have always had good ties, just as Serbia has historically had good relations with Turkey, Armenia's supposed enemy, and your supposed Ace in the Hole. Things get a bit more complex and multifaceted once one starts thinking outside narrow-minded nationalism.

This is an interesting meeting, and a welcome one. Armenia was chopped up by Gorbachov and Shevardnadzi in the early 1990s, a solution that has kept Georgia unstable and Armenia landlocked from a large number of its population ever since. In the meantime, oil rich Azerbaijan has been stockpiling weapons, and if they ever attack the Armenian enclave, unfortunately Armenia will have little to protect its citizens. It is good that Serbia commemorated the slaughter of millions of Armenians in 1915. It is a stark reminder of the importance of alknowledging the terrible things done in the name of Serbia during the Balkans war. Armenians are closer in terms of their history to Bosniaks or Kosovo Albanians (despite different religions) and Armenian citizens are tiring of their own Moscow supported presidency. Armenia has a very strong and politically powerful lobby within the USA, as well as success in maintaining good relations with Russia. This is a level of political maturity that Serbia seems a million years away from.

" On the first day of his visit, the president and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan agreed that regional conflicts, such as those in Kosovo and Nagorno Karabakh, must be resolved without the use of force and only by peaceful means in keeping with international law."

What Tadic really meant to say: Peaceful means after you tried, lost the war and you don't dare to start another one. According to Jeremic, Tadic supports the Azeri Muslim "territorial integrity" regarding Nagorni K, I wonder why he went to Armenia.

After Mr. Tadic's talks in Erevan, the world will definitely be a better place!
(Christie Heath, 29 July 2009 11:13)

Maybe, and since I see him putting flowers on memorial of 1915 genocide, our dear Turkish "friends" who introduced Europe to Osman Empire for way to long will be delighted.

At least the Serbs have acknowledged this event, whereas some other countries think they can get away with murdering MILLIONS.
