But then how did the Albanian population of Kosovo go from roughly 60% after WW2 to nearly 90%?

You must have misunderstood me somewhere, I never claimed that Armenians are descended from the Caucasian Albanians, I said that the Azeris are descended from them. From what I understand, they spoke a Caucasian language (probably either Southern, like Georgian, or North-East, like Chechen), not an Uralic one (until the Turks came).

Are there any linguistic links between Uralic and Caucasic languages?

Well, I would still not be wrong with what I said, since all three of those Caucasian countries are all descended from Togarmah! ;)

Peter,

1) Generally agree with your posting, but Caucasian Albanians are not Armenians. They are not Georgians and not Shqip-Albanians either. Their language is (from very far) related to Turkish and Hungarian. Armenians, Shqips, Poles, Serbs are speaking Indo-Iranian languages. Georgians are speaking "Kartvellian" (unrelated). Turks, Hungarians, Fins, Mongols, Caucasus-Albanians (Lezgs), Uyghurs are speaking agglutinative languages, sometimes referred as "Ural-Altaian".

2) Caucasus-Albanians did live somewhat more north. And here - precisely because of their language being kind of "Ural-Altaian" the Turkish dominance is understandable, but not desired. They (Lezgs) were among the first Christians and that Turkish conquest of Lezgistan wasn't always peaceful.

"hundreds of thousands of Albanians escaping from Albania (which was like North Korea then, even for its own people)."

Funny, but many serbs believe this. It's impossible for "hundreds of thousands of Albanians escaping from Albania" without having hundreds upon hundreds of articles. Oh, and by the time Slobo got in power, Albanians migrated to Italy and Greece and other countries through embassies. Those few Albanians that escaped to Tito's YU are now in USA, UK and Germany as political refugees. It wasn't hard to get that status back then, was it, so who would want to stay in Kosova or Crna Gora?

They are plenty of Kosovars in Albania, entire "mahalle"

Peter Sudyka: The border in Albania was sealed tight, there was very few who managed to escape. Those lucky few who succeeded, did move to western Europe or USA.

Well, after the Turks systematically exterminated 1 500 000 of them and stole the majority of their lands, I think that Armenia, a country who has contributed a great deal to Western Civilization and who has been wronged more than any nation on earth, deserves support for even just this small fraction of land in Azerbaijan (which, like the Turks of Anatolia, was once a nation inhabited by an indigenous folk, called the Caucasian Albanians, before the Turks came from Central Asia and forced their language and religion on them), especially since they have done nothing to wrong to anyone in the past.

Whereas the Albanians of Kosovo only had it tough under Milosevic, before, it was a paradise on earth and destination for hundreds of thousands of Albanians escaping from Albania (which was like North Korea then, even for its own people).
