The vast majority of Kosovo's ethnic Albanian population, and the Bosniaks in BiH, as well as the Serb population throughout former Yugoslavia are law abiding citizens who pose a threat to nobody. The only thing they all have in common is corruption in the political system that keeps the entire region poor. It is ironic that a minority of Serbian commentators here are preaching a double-standard. On one hand, you claim Kosovo as a part of Serbia, but on the other, you are happy to deny Kosovo Albanians the same freedoms as you expect for yourselves. When it comes to mafias that use violence, terror and murder, there are few parallels to the Arkan regime that committed terrible crimes in the 1990s, and their supporters who have managed to keep Serbia's borders no more secure than those of any other part of the region. To this day some Serbian border offials and some police still ask for money from tourists......

My government also arrested US born citizens for terrorism. Is my government afraid of its own citizens. They just arrested a US citizen last week for terrorism activities.

Goof point Peggy. Here is a reason why Europe is worried about some Albanians traveling freely through Europe: to commit terrorist acts... our FBI just arrested an Albanian with several others terrorists who had come to Kosovo numerous times to commit terrorist activities. Even my own government is starting to see the trouble brewing. Here is the link to the article, and click on the video:

B92, how come you forgot to mention that Bosnian citizens may also need visas too?
(Ian, UK, 27 July 2009 14:50)

Ian, the topic was Kosovo and Macedonia not Bosnia, that's how come.

Also Ian, how come you always seem to be taking up the Muslim cause no matter if they are Bosnian or Albanian. For a British guy you seem to champion for the Muslims all the time. Strange.

Does the EU recommend that Albania prohibit that Macedonia use the Port of Durres for free, as they've been doing for the last 15 years, once the Macedonians ask for visas?

Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croats can, I guess those poor Bosniaks have been left out again (together with the Albanians, Kosovo Albanians and Turks). Hint, hint.

The word 'illegal' should be a hint.

Criminals manage to transport tons of drugs and traffic hundreds of people through many countries with much better border controls - do you honestly think that visa requirements will have any impact on crime?

All this will do in cause inconvenience to ordinary people.

Plus Macedonia exports many products to Albnia and Kosovo and any visa requirements will have a massive impact on future business betweent he countries.

100% pure nonsense.

To be on "White List" does not mean, you need visas from a third country.

Croatia is on Schengen "White List" and Russians do not need visas for Croatia. Montenegro will be certainly on the "White List" - here there is no word about visas being expected from Russians or even Kosovo residents.

If the "White List" is an excuse to introduce the visa regime - that is an other question.

Won't apply to really bad guys, they have Swiss or whatever passport anyway.
