wherever we live we need to vote, and we need to be smart about it. i encourage albanian people and any other minority members to vote in serbia (if you live there), in bosnia, etc. but just pls vote for the future, not the (worst of the) past.

thank you.

You should speak so before because now its too late for that. Serbs will not participate in these elections of illegal Snake-Haradinaj, goverment. I agree that extremists and people that support double-standard policy toward Serbs will in way be persuaded

Thank you, Berkely, as always. Yr posting makes perfect sense but i don't think we shall convince our most extreme opponents, now or ever. sometimes you have to accept such things.

however, i would like to appeal to all the eligible voters of kosovo/a to vote, period, and hopefully for the best candidates, not just more nationalists, of any variety. but people of integrity, and i am sure there are some.

Berkeley - what a "horrible attrocities"?? Maybe You read US propaganda press from 1999 "half milion of Albanians killed by Serbs"?? Where are this "half milion"??

And - do You think about US government who support TERRORIST group UCK (group who kills lot of civilians) for creation an "independent" country?? Do You think about US hypocrits, who doing nothing when Albanians expelled hundreds of thousands non-albanians from Kosovo??

Mr Athisaari signed ANY LEGAL DEAL between Serbia and pseudogovernment of Kosovo - so his "Plan" is only some paper - nothing more. UN Resolution 1244 is still ONLY LEGAL INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENT - and according to this resolution Kosovo is legal part of Serbia. So - UDI from 2008 break international law.

Citizens of Serbia who still live on the territory of Kosovo - according law - don't must participate in ANY elections or institutions of ILLEGAL STATE.

There's always a reason for Serbs not to participate in elections. Now Bogdanovic is saying that if UN or EU organize elections they would participate. What about the previous elections where UNMIK organized elections, what was the reason then? May god find a solution for K-Serbs.

The establishment of elections for an autonomous govt is one of the core goals of 1244. Over the last few weeks the true goal from Holland has appeared to show anti-Albanianism instead of any possible defender of "International law". True colors rarely stay hidden

International Law is more but some lines on a map. It primarily base on Human Rights which Serbia clearly violated the whole 90s. That is sin which lead us here and that is what all people really should complain about. A human life is more worth than line on a map or a monastary. Serbia forfeithed its right by doing this crimes. Even International Law mentiones that a population has right to uprise against a suppressive regime like the one under Milosevic. So even according that the Albanians are on the right side to claim independence after that horrible atrocities comitted by officials of Serbia. There are UN verdicts against high ranking officials of Serbia. That is the judicial proof that Serbia committed crimes against the Albanian population. In the end, the ICJ will confirm that secession was right, especially after mentioning 1244 in which it is stated that there will be status talks. Well, we had status talks and those are now over. Arthisaari was elected by the UNSC. If some had something against him, they should have thought about this in the first place, or delete the passage of 1244 in which is stated that there will be status talks.
(Berkeley, 26 July 2009 17:38)

Tell me Berkeley,

Why is the West shielding the likes of Thaci, Ceku and Haradinaj? These men were also guilty of war crimes yet in the case of Agim Ceku he was allowed to escape justice despite the overwhelming evidence against him. In Haradinaj's case, important prosecution witnesses were either intimidated into giving evidence at the trial or assassinated. How convenient!

Secondly, you talk about Serbia forfeiting its right to rule Kosovo, etc. etc. There is no doubt that crimes were committed....by all sides but why be so selective. Why focus on the crimes of the Yugoslav police and army and not those of the KLA who murdered, tortured and extracted organs from their opponents, many of them Serbs and Roma. 300,000 Serbs, Roma, Jews, Gorani, Montenegrins and other non Albanians have been ehnically cleansed from Kosmet and can never return to their homes. Do they not register a jot in your 'moral indignation'? Where is the justice in that?

I also note a glaring absence in your reply regarding Croatia and no mention on Zagreb to give up Kraijina after they ethnic cleansed 250,000 Serbs, murdering thousands of innocent Serb civilians in the process. Hasnt Croatia also forfeited its right to rule there as well? Are the innocent Serb civilians lives worth a lot less in your self righteous indignation that those of non Serbs?

I would agree with your analysis somewhat if it didn't stink to high heaven of double standards, racism and hypocricy.

International Law unfortunatley for the KLA fascists is on Serbia's side. There is no provision for in International Law for Pristina's UDD. It was ILLEGAL and no iridentist and chauvanistic land grab will ever hide that or your true agenda.

>>International Law is more but some lines on a map. It primarily base on Human Rights which Serbia clearly violated the whole 90s...>>

Thank you, Berkely, as always. Yr posting makes perfect sense but i don't think we shall convince our most extreme opponents, now or ever. sometimes you have to accept such things.

however, i would like to appeal to all the eligible voters of kosovo/a to vote, period, and hopefully for the best candidates, not just more nationalists, of any variety. but people of integrity, and i am sure there are some.

wherever we live we need to vote, and we need to be smart about it. i encourage albanian people and any other minority members to vote in serbia (if you live there), in bosnia, etc. but just pls vote for the future, not the (worst of the) past.

thank you.

Ron,
Yes things used to be this and that. By books, yes, there should have been an agreement, but Russia's threat of a veto did not allow for that. Don't forget that Kosovo had to agree with any prescribed status. Under this reality, why not independence. Even UN is operating on a bases 'status neutral'.

The establishment of elections for an autonomous govt is one of the core goals of 1244. Over the last few weeks the true goal from Holland has appeared to show anti-Albanianism instead of any possible defender of "International law". True colors rarely stay hidden

Progress is being made - Serbia now agrees customs should be collected, it just wants to determine how they are spent.

Ok, progress, if not perfection.

'Serb policy towards Kosovo is full of contradictions'

That's right mr village bey it's government in disarray that will have to hop on to early elections only it doesnt want to. Lets wait for nikolic and see what things really look like shall we.
But you know
'We cannot work under patronage of Pieter Feith, but we are prepared to talk to Eulex'

Its not so much the fault of this poor, poor guy. it's the devious nature of the exercise :) faith has one mind in ico and another in eulex. It's hilarious and sad at the same time. whats that thing on letterman, human tricks something? Cant remember right now but it springs to mind :)

You should speak so before because now its too late for that. Serbs will not participate in these elections of illegal Snake-Haradinaj, goverment. I agree that extremists and people that support double-standard policy toward Serbs will in way be persuaded
