It's all very nice but Dragoslav is on to something. Basically they choose impressionable people. If not losers. I mean good grades are great but real life wants more than that. I mean cmon. students in their 20s who never travelled abroad before in their lives?

By the way that particular strain of church thinking that you express is the reason why the church in Serbia is becoming less relevant to young educated Serbs today.

Some of my wife's devote protestant relatives never question the church and go blindly vote for Orbán, who helped the "Jobbik" party to became what they are now. Nice people, but I can't even question His Holiness Viktor being a saint alive or not.

Given that a while ago (before 45) part of their family background was somewhat else, not "protestant" - this is mildly speaking bizarre, almost like Russians or Serbs with "88" allegiance (they do exist!)

This is good news.

Dragoslav the danger is not that our students are stupid that they will become brainwashed. The only danger is that their talent will eventually move abroad and use their skills are used outside of Serbia. However, that can also be mitigated by Serbian government incentives if they have the money or inclination.

Why not? Germany helped Poland into EU and NATO, and you know our history together, we are trying to help Ukraine into EU and NATO, and you know how our history looks, so why shouldn't Croatia help Serbia into NATO and EU? My experience is that this builds very positive relations between countries, in fact, Polish relations with Germany and the Ukraine are better than ever before.

I think that maybe intitially Serbia would experience a brain drain as it adjusts to the EU (once becoming a member), but as with the Poles, many, many thousands Poles have come back from the UK as our country has become a much better perspective for our inteligencja than the UK. It just takes a little time.

I certainly hope that "The government’s European Integration Office"" also does have a clear plan how to keep this smart kids to stay, live and contribute in building one better Serbia.

This is a great program and I hope to see more of this in the future. Serbian history and culture have a long tradition of syncretizing the cosmopolitanism of Europe.

Lucky 200. Must have been a difficult choice in who stays and who goes.

Recall my first school trip to Avala. And I tought that was exciting! Well it was and so were the views.
