Fantastic news story. Great to hear the police are doing their job and protecting the citizens of Serbia from terrorism.

Next time this Mustafa fellow better back up his fairy tale with some evidence otherwise he will make himself look like a fool again.

Terrorist activity and the perpetrator calls foul. The Albanians have to realize they can't be playing soccer in a hockey rink, kicking a puck and hiding the stick.

I am not surprised this person wants the police out. It must be curtailing the criminal elements and thus bringing an end to their ill gotten gains. In other words, the KLA criminal element can't make any money in Presevo anymore, hence why they are now crying foul.

So the same Serbian tactics used in Kosovo are still the official Serbian State policy (intimidation and brutality).
It did backfire with a vengeance in Kosovo and it is definitely not making things easier now.

The Albanians here are acting like a footballer diving in the penalty area and asking the referee for a penalty. Instead he is shown a yellow card.

What arms smugglin and what suspects are they talking about. At least when you invent a story try to be little more convincing.Lies, and nothing but lies.

Here we go again with Serbia. The worst aspect of history is that people tend to forget the teachings of the past. Competence generates trust, if the police are doing their job correctly then people will believe them.

I can already see this topic is going to have its share of over the top statements. Let's remember this is just political posturing by Mustafa and there is no need to get worked up. I don't think Mustafa's comments are much different than certain African-American leaders in downtown urban areas of the USA complaining about the city police departments. If that can happen in rich USA than of course it's going to be a problem in a still developing Serbia.

However, Mustafa is right that things need to be improved in the region. But, I would say this also applies to Serbia as a whole.

@andy regarding "Serbia will pay a heavy price." You and Mustafa should remember back to 2000 when the gendarmie wasn't there. The UCPMB basically tried to take over and started killing policemen and robbing people on the roads from Kosovo to Presevo. I repeat the Serbian militrary/police presence was not there so these KLA/UCPMB folks were not responding to a brutal crackdown or revenge, they were just trying to widen the swath of their criminal control.

The Serbian MUP was allowed in and easily routed the terrorists and order was restored. I might add that NATO approved of the operation so please don't get Presevo confused with the Kosovo playbook.

When it was over, there were not thousands of people fleeing into Kosovo or reports of mass graves, which characterized the Milosevic era. In short this is not 1998/99, and the gendarmie stays.

Let them try, andy, we will see whose gonna win! West will not support you this time and albanian thugs cant behave in such way in Serbia. They have to learn their lesson. And Serbs in south Metohija(moden northern Albania) live under brutal regime of Albanians. If anyone deserve independence, its them!

Answer: Interesting...would it be a treat to the Goverment in Belgrade and Republic of Serbia?

Would you be more specific with your "suggestions"? We would like to gather as many facts as we can in order to deal with International terrorism.

A good gimmick by Mr. Mustafa, although he conveniently overlooks two factors.

1. Albanians in the Presevo valley either harbor KLA terrorists, or are themselves KLA terrorists. Serb MUPs are not in the region because they have nothing else better to do with their time.

2. The United States is not interested in aiding them this time. VS and KFOR have a good working relationship and I suspect if the situation got out of hand, joint operations on both sides of the administrative border with Kosovo will be carried out.

After the last incident, police launched a series of operations to cut arms smuggling and arrest suspects.

I would not like to run in any premature conclusion, but did Mustafa managed to condemn the terrorist attack on the Local Police Force previously?

If he did not and if he is suggesting possible "secessionist" scenario then the Government in Belgrade may decide to take the legal steps and set him to Prison as per fact that he is an active Government employee .

Here we go again. First there are the ridiculous accusations. Next there is the threat to leave. This will be followed by hiring public relations firms in the US. Also as we already see, the ethnic Albanians are acting violently and pretending that they aren't. What a bunch of xxxx. Let me break the news to you all. IT WILL NOT WORK THIS TIME. Sorry.
