Lucky me, I use it very often and it gets posted. Like for many Chinese, the politically sensitive term for People's Republic of China is "Mainland" and for the rest - "Taiwan island".

I don't really care what kind of government/self-government Albanians have in Kosovo as long as the ones high on the food chain have no blood and dirty money stuck to their hands.

And of course as long as they aren't servants of their overlords way to obviously - in exchange for being quasi-pardoned for what they are doing.

That is a disgrace.

Well, I am trying to detect your way of mind winding : if it is mentioned that Presevo is Serbia'a southern proper it certanly does not exclude Kosovo as another Serbia's southern proper.

Well, an other disgrace in coming - typical for USA.
I have insurance policy covering almost the whole continent (from 2009: the whole continent) issued by GEICO overseas, written by AIG International, issued by American International Underwriters.

We could call them "underhanders", not "underwriters".

2009 did see two changes:

1) The name of "YU" is no more, it has to be "Serbia"
2) There is an other extension, called "RU" (guess, which country it is).

My insurance expired this month. I did re-new it timely, paying $976 (liability + comprehensive + collision) for a year.

And nothing arrived.

Waited... waited... still nothing.

Called GEICO.

- "the paperwork is in the mail"
- "we will Fedex you overnight ASAP"
- "don't worry, you still have time"

and so on.

Now - I have NO proof of insurance and can't drive to Serbia, Russia, even if I paid for it. I am short of $976 and the last news: "if you go to Russia or Serbia, pay the insurance at the border, but you won't be reimbursed. The correct insurance paperwork will come one day to you, but we can't tell when. It is in the printing"

This is a mean, underhanded way and how typical it is!

Have no idea what to do. Called a lawyer, they suggested to call the local (where I am licensed) State Insurance Comisssion because it's a FRAUD.

All done by GEICO and AIU, major companies. You try to go to Serbia = this is the way it's handled. Of course, I did put that $976 in disputed by the credit card agency, but that won't make me to get the insurance what I did pay for.

In any case this is a scandal.

You've probably got an inflated impression of American efficiency if you assume every foul-up is due to politics. (Maybe they haven't changed all the software to account for the change from Yugoslavia to Serbia - wasn't there an intermediate stage there?)

Too bad about the hassle, though - good luck getting it straightened out.

Is this a joke. US military spend years supporting UCK to cleanse Kosovo and now I read that military cooperation is the best part of Serbian - US relations. Reads like a sick joke that the Serbian army is cooperating with such aggressors as the US army.

Too bad about the hassle, though - good luck getting it straightened out.

The new forms were set last Autumn. The insurance company had over nine month to make it right. In nine month timeframe one can make a wonderful baby, but they could not make some ugly little green piece of paper. I mean the "green card", not the "$". I am sure, they made more than enough "$".

In any case according the State consumer protection agency (one of the not-so-useless ".gov"-s) that is not somewhat GEICO can be proud of and they will push them.

In the meantime I am stuck. I do not mind it till the project is not finished but afterwards we want to go to Ohrid and also try out that your much-advertised Albania-Kosovo freeway.

With that - no chance, unless going the Romania-Bulgaria-FYROM way.
