I agree with Bajatović, but I would prefer to stress the safety aspect and the trading aspect. As we saw in the last Ukrainian gas crisis it is in Serbia's interest to be able to get gas from different sources. A similar argument will also apply to the Nabucco customers. The oil pipeline in Turkey was a long time offline after it had been attacked by Kurdish separatists. There is no guarantee that that won't happen some day with the gas pipe too. So it would be in their interest to be able to buy South Stream gas when necessary. If one looks at how Europe is developing towards liberalisation of the energy markets the Serbian consumer will one day be able to choose between different sources of gas.

' 7. Besides, our necktie-devouring friend "bear" (Misha) is probably the biggest clown in the entire Europe, beating the "crow" (Voronin), "snake" (Thaci) and "pigeon" (Ceku). '

Call Saakashvili what you will, but he got what he wanted - take a look at his expression in the photo at http://www.kommersant.ru/doc.aspx?DocsID=1203608. There he is, right in the middle of the front row, grinning broadly, along with all the other signers of the Nabucco agreement. This is as good (and a lot faster) than joining NATO - an attack on Europe's security pipeline will not be construed as a friendly act.

"friendly Democratic society of Azerbaijan"

Yes, Pijetro, I am mildly speaking not a huge fan of Drenica Clan + Thaci - but some of these "democratic" "stans" easily beat even Drenica for "democracy" and "progress".

Besides, our necktie-devouring friend "bear" (Misha) is probably the biggest clown in the entire Europe, beating the "crow" (Voronin), "snake" (Thaci) and "pigeon" (Ceku).

What a zoo, man...

Anyone can finish the joke?

A bear, a crow, a snake and a pigeon meeting. (How you would continue? My phantasy is not working, please help me out with some funny stuff)

Who does not know:

it's of course not the "Russian" bear, but "Misha":

The same reason as it's got to do with having a US sponsoreed Georgian army..
The same reason that Bush's top advisors visited the friendly Democratic society of Azerbaijan on a regular basis.
The same reason it needs Camp Bondsteel to secure the Ambro pipeline.

What's US military influence doing in places that BP wants to do business with, if it's strictly a commercial purchase??

I think this was Arta's point..

On who's side is Serbia on?
(aRTA, 15 July 2009 13:07)

On Serbia's side, where it should be. Both are as I would call "прожекты", not "проекты". That extra "ж" is derogative, it means: "a dream project, who knows, when it will be ready and who knows, who will try to make a money on the side"

It's the same category as the Alaska-Bering-Chukotka rail+freeway link. Yes, maybe, one day and who knows.

Besides, the last one would be (for me) more useful. At least I won't buy any airplane ticket to the States anymore. Even if the train would cost more. ;)

I want to win the lottery, but only if the state asks me to start negotiations. Thanks for today's entertainment! The whole idea of Nabucco is to avoid Russia and their kind, regimes "you can't do business with." On who's side is Serbia on? We all know so why would US want to complicate things?
