Roberto from Frisco. Are you the best and brightest conscience of the US? How about the sleepy and silent majority in the US who are not protesting numerous war crimes by their leaders and troops? Maybe the US should have a remembrance day for all the victims killed during the overseas wars that the US have been involved in after WWII. I am sure that people in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Serbia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and many other countries where obscure dictatorships were establihed and supported by the US will be very happy that their suffering and pain will finally be recognized. At least Serbia has the conscience and guts to put people on trial for war crimes, something that is mainly unknown in many other terretories of the former Yugoslavia.

I just read that the Turkish PM Erdogan has described the unrest in the Chinese province of Xinjiang as genocide (only because the Uighurs are related to Turks, he does not want to mention places like Darfur where Turkey has no interests). This is quite shocking (but not surprising)for in Turkey the true genocide of Armenians during WWI is still being denied (and illegal by law to even mention) while it has been recognized as genocide by many countries. Remembering all the victim of all ethnicities of all the conflicts after the desintegration of Yugoslavia is an appropriate thing to do and this should be done in all former rebublics where there were serious and prolonged combat activities (at the same day to make it more coherent). It is also time to be reminded once again that certain EU countries (especially the new Germany that was still riding high on its unification) were actively involved in the desintegration of Yugoslavia because Yugoslavia could not remain a model of a true multi-ethnic society which went against the imperialistic ambitions of the EU. Srebrenica was no genocide. There were war crimes committed and people were massacred. But there were many victims on both sides and one has to look at the real reasons why the Bosnian Serb army decided to conquer Srebrenica. I am confident that even in The West the truth will be revealed some day and it would not surprise me if Milosevic's comment that the French secret service was behind it will be proven to be partly true. For all you Serb haters that will comment on this posting. I am not a ultra-nationalist. I consider myself a good patriot and I am sick am being branded for all evil just because I am a Serb. That is why I am willing to write what is on my mind and in my heart and I am also willing to admit that I was wrong once the real truth will be revealed. Until that time I am capable enough to use some common sense which clearly tells me that a lot of Western propaganda has big flaws. Have a nice weekend!

"Naturally, pay-back time is gradually unfolding."

I hope that the revenge cycle is over, but just today another mass grave was discovered in Kosova.

Albanians have not forgotten the massacres, and we're not known for forgiving certain crimes as Serbs like to remind the world about Albanian "blood feuds." Let's hope that Serbia apologizes and makes right for the victims, since that would start the healing. So far Albanians have been very measured.

> Asked whether, instead of a resolution condemning solely the crimes in Srebrenica, parliament should adopt a resolution condemning all other crimes in the former Yugoslavia, she replied:

> “That would be like marking the day of remembrance for Auschwitz, and then saying that the bombing of Dresden should be included too. All analogies are inappropriate, as is this comparison,“ Vučo stressed.

All analogies to 'Srebenica' are inappropriate in the same way as all analogies to 'Auschwitz' are?

Believe that the israelies would find ANY analogy to 'Auschwitz' 'inappropriate', including Vuco's. As for 'bomber' Harris's initiative, there are a lot of people (at least those with a conscience) who have condemned the fire-bombing of dresden as a war-crime.

'Srebenica' didn't happen in a vacumn. Those innocents slaughtered by Naser Oric & those under his command, as well as all the other thousands throughout Bosnia, of ALL nationalities, deserve the same remembrance.

And the choice of the 11th of July as the date of that remembrance would be especially appropriate given the loss of life in that particular area.

Unless of course humanity has no role in Biljana Kovačević Vučo's concept of 'human-rights'.

Seems to be a bit of a gap in your historical list - specifically between 1913 & 1995.

World War II ring a bell?

21st Waffen-Gebirgs Division der SS Skanderbeg?

That's the problem when you focus your attention on just one side - you forget that 'pay-back' works in both directions.

History only repeats itself because people tend to ignore it.

At their peril.

OK, so lets hear the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The facts will show that we (Serbians, Muslims and the West) are all guilty of committing and preventing crimes. Only when we face up to these can we move on and allow the thousands of murdered Serbians and Muslims to rest in peace.

The NATO court in the Hague has not delivered true justice but something of the selective type. What a shame and waste of time. It's no wonder the whole region has not moved on.

“Serbia has received many messages that the way those verdicts are commented on does not help soften Holland’s stance. It does just the opposite. I think that it is important, on the one hand, to refrain from comment—from negative comment obviously—on Hague Tribunal verdicts, and to have a clear stance towards the events in Srebrenica on the other,” Varga said.

Has Mr. Varga done a thorough study of the events in Srebrenica??? Or has he just gone with the Western media version??? More and more books and eyewitness accounts are now claiming that the Bosnian Muslims used Srebrenica as a "sacrificial stage" to induce Bill Clinton to enter the war. Any killings are terrible....however, killings that lead to more lies, manipulations, and more killings are deplorable! Investigate and let the TRUTH be told about Srebrenica- not the propoganda Mr. Varga!!!
