Serbia will join the EU and maintain its ownership of Kosovo. That should be accepted as a done fact because there is no alternative on either issue.

Anyone who says that Serbia should abandon its province in order to join the EU is just being obstructive to progress.

I believe that a lot of EU politicians will try to make the link - but that in the long run they will be unsuccessful. The political pressure to respect Serbia's stance will be greater than anti-Serbian politicians will be able to resist.

The EU needs to take account both that Serbia is the legitimate owner of the land and that the politics of Milosevic no longer apply. The generally positive tone of the article makes it clear that the changes definitely do need to be rewarded soon. That cannot be done proactively if it depends on more conditions - it the the EU that needs to recognise that it can do harm if it does not reward the substantial changes that have occurred.

Will be similar situation like today Cyprus and "independent" Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Turks from North have any chance for integration with EU (and their money) and today, they need to back to their mother country - Republic of Cyprus.

Overall, I see this article as good news. Evan if the EU has been two faced with Serbia, I'm hoping Serbs still want their production output, industry, and quality of life to be on par with western Europe. For that reason, Serbs should continue with economic integration and absorbing western European know how whether or not this leads to actual EU membership.
