Yeah, "Serbia has always had good relations with the arab world" (@MikeC) to the extent that it is virtually impossible for them to obtain Serbian visa
(Maja, 7 July 2009 12:16)

Thumbs up for Serbia on that. Normally I oppose visa regime, but there are some exceptions.

-----------

I sincerely hope Serbia is genuinely hosting Mr. Abbas
(Maja, 7 July 2009 12:16)

Very ill person, holocaust-denial, corruption, ex-terrorist. Ex? Can be a terrorist and ex-terrorist? Prison is the best place for him.

-----------

and at the same denying visas to their well-educated, law-abiding citizens
(Maja, 7 July 2009 12:16)

That's what can be called "oxymoron" in most cases. And every exception has to be proved carefully. People can live "double" life and naive Serbs can invite their "quasi-friends", wolves in sheep skin, professors-turned -"ex"terrorists. Very good, no visas for "ex"terrorists, Serbian MoFA is doing it just right.

BTW: obtaining Schengen, US, Chinese (Mainland/TW/HK) or Russian visa is not any easier. Guess, why is that???

BTW: my wife was nearly raped by a "wannabe" "future" professor from Palestine, he was merely a terrorist-in-training during the time Hungary supported these SOB-s and they came here on our costs. It was impossible to "fire" a "student" from Hungarian university, no matter how bad were his scores: he had a second mission and the agents of the communist party made it clear to Hungarian professors.

On the other hand, firing someone from Cuba, Russia, VietNam was not a problem if their scores were low.

After that, thanks, inshallah, I don't need such "tourists".

Yeah, "Serbia has always had good relations with the arab world" (@MikeC) to the extent that it is virtually impossible for them to obtain Serbian visa, even if a friend from Serbia sends them an invitation letter and guarantees for them. I sincerely hope Serbia is genuinely hosting Mr. Abbas, having sincere understanding for the Palestinian problem and plight, and that it is extending a hand of friendship with no ulterior motives. 'Lobbying' in the Arab world and praising certain countries for assistance, publishing lengthy interviews with their ambassadors and speaking of friendship when the help is needed, as was the case with Syria, and at the same denying visas to their well-educated, law-abiding citizens, seems more like one-sided interest than a genuine friendship.

Palestine doesn't even have a country, just like Kosovo. Why would Serbia ask Abbas for help when Serbia has more powerful muslim alies like Egypt, Algeria, Indonesia etc? Serbia has always had good relations with the arab world.

Demi,
Right!
Becasue a leader from Palestine is coming to accept a bribe. Palestine has the least power in the Middle East!

Its like if Albanian leaders from Kosovo leaders went to Georgia letting them know that other countries will recognize S Ossetia and abkez (i can't spell those 2 countries).

Keep dreaming for recognitions. I would to if I was an Albanian in Kosovo!

Canadien

No new wave of recognition will happen. Kosovo's recognition has now peaked, at most there will be maybe 1 or 2 more recognition and then when the ICJ rules in favor of Serbia Kosovo can expect to lose nearly half of those recognitions. There will be a lot of countries revoking their recognitions.

It must burn the Albanians to see ABBAS welcomed in Serbia and the Serbian goverment having such good ties with them!?

Demi

I think Tadic has got some information that a big wave of recognition is coming from the Islamic world so he invites Abbas to Serbia in an last attempt to stop the recognitions. That or he will bibe Abbas to lobby for Serbia on the Islamic scen. I just wonder how much it will cost`?
