Both Alnanians and Serbs need to realise that they have to move on towards EU and forget the past. Trust me one day you will regret the time wasted arguing about the past. Remember You are neighbours and you will need to work together so you can move on and live like the rest of eu. IS IT WORTH IT STILL WASTING TIME ARGUING?

I am an American citizen, born, raised, and living in the USA. If the USA wants Kosovo to be a multi-ethnic society, it should have never given complete adherence to the ethnic Albanians of Kosovo who were busy destroying everything Serbian; trying to erase 1,500 years of Serbian history, people, religion, arts, and culture. Was the USA practicing genocide against the Serbs to get Serbian land with the same mentality of the USA practicing genocide to wipe out the native American Indians to get their land? You ethnic Albanians of Kosovo, if you think the land of Kosovo is your land, think again. Kosovo is USA territory. That notion may seem very strange to Albanian Kosovars now, but as the years go by, you will begin to see more and more about what I have wrote here.

"If you forget this message, you will need a lot more time and a lot more effort to realize Kosovo’s European dream"
Not only we will not forget, but we will try hard very hard to have this message spread all over europe so that the rights of çame in greece are respected as much as we respect serbs right,It will be only fair no for europe not to have double standards when minority rights are concerned! So don't worry:we will protect them to claim and ask same protection for çame.

If the US is talking this way they should leave. It is stupid to re-badge the attempted enforced formation of a monoethnically motivated state as multiethnic. It is just telling the dog to hide its teeth.

For years Serbs and other Yugoslavs paid special taxes for Kosovo in the name of a multiethnic policy called 'brotherhood and unity'. Local Serbs and most local Albanians would happily have lived and worked together. However, the long term Albanian driven policy was to provoke and force separation. Neighbour was forced to turn on neighbour even where they didn't want to.

The mentality of the US is to blame everything on Milosevic (the 'baddy') but the level of understanding stops there.

The US thinks that Kosovo as a state is a solution. It is not.

The reality is that the west is continuing to help establish and defend another Albanian stronghold.

However, they will continue to believe as they do and compound this mistake for a long time yet.

Multi-ethnicity is dead. Govt offices? No Serbs staff; govt procurement offices? No Serb staff; public contracts? No Serb contractors; infrastructure funding> all Albanian towns and villages no Serbian areas. All the international community UNMIK, EULEX, embassies? OSCE they all know these. Everybody is closing their eyes and continued discrimination leads to lasting conflict. A very small province 10000 sqkm area to manage by many international actors but all failed!!!Katastropa!!!

"U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Tina Kaidanow said in Priština yesterday that Kosovo must learn to uphold its multi-ethnic character."

Well you had your country helped it stay part of a multi-ethnic Yugoslavia then things would probably be different.

Kaidanow organized a reception at the U.S. diplomatic mission for officials from the provincial institutions, international community, the media and the non-governmental sector to celebrate American Independence Day.

Just read the above paragraph " US diplomatic mission" .

“If you forget this message, you will need a lot more time and a lot more effort to realize Kosovo’s European dream,” the U.S. ambassador said.

Now read the above paragraph of this article, about US Ambassador.

Now, can anybody explain to me what it means.
Why not be sincere and say it plainly ;"US Ambassador in Prishtina, or US Embassy in Prishtina". People are not stupid and nowadays even ordinary people can read between lines, and i am not talking about K-Albanians either but ordinary Serbs.

Sadly Pristina holds true and dear to a mono-ethnic society. Waving the artifical blue flag in front of cameras and media and later waving the red with black double headed eagle, as soon as the popmpous ceremonies are over. They forget Serbs can wait a very long time to reclaim every inch of their land back -and wait patiently.

Same old spin from these American politicos. We heard it back in Condi's days, and now current State Dept. mouthpieces are chirpping the same tunes. There is no multi-ethnic harmony in Kosovo. Further more, no side wants it.

It seems that they truth about the NATO intervention, as originally quoted by Prof Stein at the University of Toronto has fallen true.

All the evidence at the
moment is that the sequence of events, including the NATO intervention, is going to result in the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo — not
the cleansing of the Albanians,
but the cleansing of the Serbian and Gypsy and Turkish minorities.
In this regard, if no other, it will be possible to argue that the NATO policy was an abysmal failure.
Indeed, as we are having this
discussion, the argument made by critics of the war — that the NATO countries have become the cat’s paw of the Kosovo Liberation Army — seems to have a great deal of empirical support.

Let's own up to the mistakes and call a spade a spade!

How exactly can one of the most homogenous area of Europe be declared "multi-ethnic."

When the Albanians boast of 90%+ of the populace being Albanian, the largest two minorities lives in ghettos or abroad, and the next three largest groups have decreased in size significantly.

Happy Fourth of July to you, Madame Ambassador, and when do you expect the U.S. to become a "multi-ethnic society" with all the rights for its minority communities that you're demanding Kosovo grant its own? State-paid schooling in a community's native language, proportional representation in government jobs, use of multiple official languages...?

Sounds like you've been in Europe too long.

Talk is cheap. We all know the talk of "multiethnicity" by the U.S. is a lie.
The U.S. actions have added to increase of ethnic cleansing and ethnically pure territories - and it happened right under the noses of its soldiers and due to its policies and actions. "Operation Storm" was something the U.S. planned and aided - and that ethnic cleansing has been permanent and shows up in the after war census.

We of course know whats happened there the same as Israel has done to the Palestinians, Stolen the Serbian lands and made a mockery of equal rights thankyou America as Rage Against the Machine say: i fully support the American Indian Movement who,s land your forefathers stole and whose people you killed.

"Kosovo must learn to uphold its multi-ethnic character."

To late for that now isn't it? After 200.000 Serbs have been expelle or killed and over 100 churches and monasteries have been destroyed there is not ethnic diversity to preserve.
Besides, using only words will not improve the situation.
