Very interesting notice. Happened also 20 years ago (not in Leposavic). The end/begin of the circle.

I wonder how it feels to be pelted with stones from people that you have been paying to do your dirty deeds?

Segments of Serb population of the north accuse Belgrade government of being soft. Some of the south argue that participation is the best way forward to safeguard any Serb interest. Those of south and the north have different priorities but confused by disastrous policy directives. Belgrade itself advices against any rapprochement but at the same time it’s void of any strategic long-term plan. We have pragmatist and ideological signals given at different times to different sections of populations. Almost two distinct foreign policies presented at different international circles. Then the old debate about sacred Serbian values and the desire for a European future and a clean break from the past. Not to mention the complicated relations with Eulex, Albanians etc. And it is only going to get more complicated.

Interesting indeed genc, as it shows the complexity of issues facing Serbs not just between Kosovo and the rest of Serbia but within Serbia Proper itself. For what it's worth though, the 1389 group was always known for its uncomprimising (read as technically unrealistic) position on Kosovo. Speaking with a few friends here a few days ago, I noticed the delicate balance Tadic and the DS are playing between working with Europe and laying claim to Kosovo. Still, I'm glad to see that as of now, no incidents are being instigated by either Serb or Albanian radicals.

There should be no joining Albanian institutions in Kosovo. Either Serbia needs to take back control of it Suthern territory and, of course, give Albanians autonomy but to have Albanians as masters would mean the end of anything and everything Serbian in Kosovo. Albanians have expelled Serbs from all the areas where NATO did not make it on time to stop ethnic cleansing. Albanians are now also claiming Serbian churches as their own just like they did to homes belonging to expelled Serbs. The sooner Serbs join and accept Albanian independence the sooner we'll see the last Serb leave Kosovo. It's so obvious what the Albanians are planing. Too bad some Serbs can't see this. Don't understand why Serbia does not treat the Presevo Albanians the same way?

You and other albanians don't seem to get it! It doesn't matter who and how many albanians live in Kosovo. Just because albanians have 10 children per family doens't mean that because they are in a majority the land they live on is theirs. The territory of Kosovo is for ever marked by Serbian culture. That's a fact no one can change.

Incident aside:

I am jealous that these fat cats go where I want to, but I have to sit and work even on weekends and struggle with half-dead machines made 5 years ago just because of "backwards compatibility" and no travel till it's not solved.

my other 2 points:

--"province"? where are we, in canada? come on...

--there is really no way, when we are speaking of this "national" religion, to get around the "national" part of it. isn't that one of the greatest contradictions, or impediments to progress? i really dislike the tendency to trash religions and religious beliefs (which some of my frdns engage in) esp.ly since i am religious in my own way, and people have a right to their religion. that was one principle that our country was supposedly founded upon. but when the religion comes part and parcel with an accompanying ideology, and when it then foists itself upon the world, that is a whole other story. perhaps that is the other contradiction that needs to be addressed, by all of us, in a variety of settings and circumstances. here we all know that the churches are often used for very overt political purposes, and this year many of the conservative ones were used as a bully pulpit ag. obama and obama supporters. at the very least, such institutions need to be denied tax-shelters.

but more to the point, in every society, every multi-cultural socieity (which all of them are to a greater or lesser degree) ONE religion has no right to impose its precepts/ideology on all of the citizens.

and speaking of multi-cultural, today was the big Pride Parade in frisco -- we were out for as long as i could take the sun. it was festive, with the usual smattering of costumes and semi-naked people, but believe me, most of the participants were, let's say, as boring (or fabulous) as you or i. i always have to laugh to hear comments from outsiders who overly-eroticize these events, when they are really just big fairs, with politics and love and frndship. we marched w/the Progressive Jewish alliance, from the east bay.

and no nazis or haters in sight, thank god!

It's Serbia, not Canada. Both fairly democratic countries, Canada being (much) more developed economically and politically. One of the (main) reasons, it wasn't suffering under Ottoman occupation for 500 years. During the last 2-300 years of the occupation it wasn't pillaged and burned by hordes of "freelancers" claiming some affiliation to Ottoman Empire. Do not want to say more, please read if you are curious, who these "freelancers" were.

I do not know how it did look, but if I am you I would be more cautious to mention "semi-naked people" here. Not just because it is misintepreted everywhere, but everything aside it is not necessarily tasteful for everyone and not necessarily important fact to mention in the same line with Pjalliance. IMO, like in similar (but "hetero") events in Berlin, indeed, not much sexual it is about. I allow myself to distance from that part simply because of the (lack of) taste.

Perhaps it would help if Vidovdan became a Balkan-wide festival, including the Turks. Stranger things have happened. Last week in the Ukraine they staged a reenactment of the Battle of Poltava - in period dress - with Ukrainians, Russians, and Swedes. (This year the Ukrainians won.) At Kosovo you wouldn't even have to declare an official winner, since history never did, you could just end the day with a cookout featuring regional specialties and music.

This gets even funnier, looks like only serbs fought against turks in 1389 LOL, I hope that Kosova's government demolishes that so called serb memorial in gazimestan.
Hopefully Kosova gets her original name Dardania back. If there is a political party in Kosova that would change the name you've got my full support.

There should be no joining Albanian institutions in Kosovo. You and other albanians don't seem to get it! It doesn't matter who and how many albanians live in Kosovo. Perhaps it would help if Vidovdan became a Balkan-wide festival, including the Turks. Stranger things have happened.
