Not the first time the US State Dept. is caught with their pants down. Of course a deal was signed, why else would Karadjic leave office? Just to be polite to the Americans. Holbrooke, and his group of swindlers are as dirty as they come. He has openly stated that the only mistake he made in Bosnia was to allow a RS. He should be right next to Kadadjic in the Hague.

Similar thing with Milosevic. He went to America to negotiate the Dayton peace accord and then some months later he was a warcriminal wanted for warcrimes in Croatia and Bosnia. Why didn't the Americans arrest him while he was in Ohio? The Dayton peace negotiations took place after the wars in Croatia and Bosnia. Same thing with Saddam Hussein. While Saddam bombed Halabdja killing 5000 Kurds not a single American said a thing. Because during this period Saddam was Americas best friend and therefore he could do whatever he wanted to, as long as the oilflow to the Americans was continuing. However, later the Americans used the opression of Kurds as an excuse to arrest and indict him. Americans are such hypocrites that it makes me sick! How foolish do they think people are? With the Yanks behaving like they do no wonder the world looks they way it does!

Good move for the part of Karadzic. Of course, there wouldn't be any immunity, though the deal had certainly been struck. By mentioning this document, Karadzic has deliberately discredited western international community and particularly some of their leaders, showing that they "stroke secret deals", though THEORETICALLY they didn't have a legal right to do so....
Good move, dear Karadzic! Tell the world more about the deeds of "humanitarian interventionists". My respect!

Neither ambassador Holbrooke nor any other U.S. official, in any situation, offered Karadžić immunity and such an offer was never made,” the State Department reiterated.

“Karadžić did sign a statement, the content of which was negotiated with Holbrooke and a team of senior officials from the American government and senior officials from Belgrade."

Sounds like a lot of "double-talk" coming from the US. Everyone has seen the signed copy of the statement between Karadjic and Holbrooke- it was front page in Belgade newspapers last summer....yet the US State Dept is saying that no such agreement ever took place??? Lies (or in politics- "spin") eventually catchs up or must "wind down"... I don't believe that the US ever thought that the "truth" would be this much trouble "to tame"

Again, very simple. Make these documents public or shut up. The state department claims they exist, so now they have to make them public so that we all can read what they say. The state department made a mistake here. They should have kept quiet; instead they gave the defense grounds for a dismissal if the state department does not produce these documents with his signature. If Karadzic did not get immunity for stepping down, then he deserves to be in jail - for stupidity.
