Why doesn't he lead the protest pack on the street instead of encouraging it from the safety of his home?

Because he's not in control of everything, so he's trying to consolidate his position.
Many protesters don't care too much about him. From what I can sort out, for many enough is enough.

Mir Hossein Mousavi is obviously supported by the Americans and British. He is a very stupid man that will be responsible for many lost life's in this futile attempt to break-up Iran like Yugoslavia was broken up.

Why doesn't he lead the protest pack on the street instead of encouraging it from the safety of his home?
