Serbia receives transit fees for the gas pipelines that cross through its country. As it is major hub for gas supplies, it becomes an even more important country to the EU for its energy. So several hundred million euro transit fees is a lot to country the size of Serbia and if the albanians had the opportunity for a pipeline passing through they would chop their hands off to get it.

The fact that this is in Serbia means we will pay less. He probably doesn't even know that now that this project if finished Serbia will be able to have a gas reserve and not resort to Hungarian and German supplies like we did earlier in the year.
--You will? Serbia has the most expensive gasoline in the Balkans and possibly Europe. Russians only increased the price. No one has ever benefited from getting involved with the Russians, they'll extort every penny they can and will use it to mold your foreign policy. See Ukraine, Belarus, East Europe...

Like Adrian said, an energy independent nation is one that produces 100% of energy within it's borders Serbia IMPORTS it, from the Russians no less.

The reservoir is in Serbia so why shouldn't you use it??? Makes zero sense otherwise.

I guess if the pipeline is not a huge diplomatic victory for Serbia, than it must be a huge diplomatic victory for the Albanians NATO and the US.

"The minister also said that despite the fact the Russian giant now owns 51 percent stakes in the storage facility and the gas pipeline, Serbia has energy independence. "

Stupid me, I thought an energy independent country means a country that does not resort to energy imports and internally produces all resources it needs.

This Alban character is funny.

So yes it's a huge diplomatic, political and economic victory
