Ataman,

You can personally dislike Solyom but still he is the president of the country.
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

True, and Dubya + Putin were the presidents of other "my" countries. That does not qualify for me to like them. I believe, all of them will live fine despite my opinion and probably don't care less. But you can't force me to like any of them.

------------

So about the non-invitation to Hungary I am glad it happened.
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

I do not know, who did not invite whom. The current relationship between the countries is pretty good, we can safely assume it was Sólyom who refused to go.

------------

So what would gain Hungary as a "club member" by meeeting non-club members?
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

Usually you meet people. And dearly miss Vlora Citaku - she looks better than anyone in the politics in 1500 km radius. ;)

------------

I think Tadic made a big mistake. He intended to insulte Hungary forgetting that Hungary has veto power for aspiring new EU-candidates.
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

I did not hold the candle to Tadic while he was writing the invitations. All I know, Vlora Citaku wasn't invited - and it's why I decided to stay away, too. Otherwise I am close to 100% sure, Hungary was invited but wisely Sólyom decided to stay away: he can't single a country he has in person a good relation to.

------------

Also the sure election of Orban next year will make things for Tadic definitely more comlicated.
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

It's complicated for everyone, K-Albanians included. Remember, some of the Orbán's friends(?) ask for "Rigómezö" become Hungarian "gyepü".

------------

I am very critical on Hungarian websites about the way Hungary handlded the budget for a long time. Those huge foreign debts represent the big problem. People are very naive when they think that Orban will perform some miracles. AS for my critical posts the Hungarians usually bombard me with their virulant anti-americanism and call me the ugly Jew even that I am not Jewish(the closest thing to it is that I was once "close" to 2 Jewish girls-friends....)
(Joe, 21 June 2009 03:20)

Yes, the same guys who envision "Magyar Gárda" marching on streets of Prizren, Belgrade, heck, even Tokyo. I know their "theory" pretty well. According it, both America and Russia are controlled by secret Jewish conspiracy blah-blah-blah-blah.

As for g/f: here I am 100% apolitical and it's a private thing anyway.

Ataman,

You can personally dislike Solyom but still he is the president of the country.
So about the non-invitation to Hungary I am glad it happened. It will put things in the right perspective. But as for the meeting itself it was just a useless "photo op", a PR for Tadic. Most of the people were from non-EU countries anyway, who would like to get in. So what would gain Hungary as a "club member" by meeeting non-club members?
I think Tadic made a big mistake. He intended to insulte Hungary forgetting that Hungary has veto power for aspiring new EU-candidates. Also the sure election of Orban next year will make things for Tadic definitely more comlicated. Serbia needs Hungary much more than inversely. And just as a note: I am not a fan to Orban. I don't care too much about any Hungarian party.

Most overlooked event: Both the Albanians and Hungarians refused to take place in this "event." The Albanians it's clear why, but since it was in Novi Sad, I wonder why the Hungarians didn't send their ceremonial head of state there.

Usually if you get invited you have to go, even if it's a useless meeting /infomercial for Tadic.
(Alban, 20 June 2009 12:10)

It is not very clear for Albanians - unless they are guided by adrenaline, not by thinking. From Hungarian point of view the answer is twofold:

a) the country's government is interim and dysfunctional. There are bigger problems than the summit at this moment... (no, it's not me on the picture!)

http://tinyurl.com/mp385r

The above picture is under the already very low but still accepted lowest common denominator (Fico's insanity, Croatian-Slovenian convulsions, Moldavia's "fine" elections, Polish "twins" and "Aleksandar Makedonski" being Slav).

b) the country's president (László Sólyom) is not on speaking term with own government, not just with Yuschenko(!) or Fico. The only whom he can talk is Stjepan Mesic, but that's not enough. He was on speaking term with Tadic till March 15 of 2009, but than he made few steps upsetting the host country and now Serbian government, too is in the doghouse for Sólyom. Nothing wrong with that, Ukrainan "pro-American" Timoshenko (she is Georgian, by the way)/Yuschenko team is not any better off.

In any case, Hungary and their people is much better than the government we somehow managed to produce. Unfortunately the president of the country and the opposition is even worse than that. It's why I say: Vlora Citaku for our president! She cannot be worse and she is much more beautiful than Sólyom or Orbán.

Seriously, what is wrong with albanians? They think everything is about Kosovo? LIFE GOES ON!!! There are other issues more important that Kosovo but you make every meeting in the region to be an event for Kosovo.

Gee, there are many among these statesmen that already recognized Kosovo? It is just waste of time Mr. Tadic and co. You’ve simply missed the train, but the time isn’t still up, you might still catch an alternative mean of transportation. You should focus on real issues, and find the reason of the absence of the nearest neighboring statesmen, instead pretending that nothing has happened. This is not at all in compliance with your “good wishes” heralding around during the excursion.

I'm sure I would have applauded also...I sat in my car for 2 hours yesterday whilst the way was cleared for Tadic and co. to drive through with a clear road. Even pedestrians were not allowed to cross the road 45mins before the entourage came past. Yes, I'm sure we all applauded, we waved flags as well.......
