It’s ok for MikeC can post any links showing how Albanian cooperated with Nazis.
What MikeC does not know is that my Grandfather from Gjirokastra (south of Albania) was taken to Nazi camp in Kosovo and was killed with 111 other Albanians just before the war was over.
My Condolence and sympathy goes to the family members of the victims.
Saying just that will show the gentleman side of anyone here Albanian or Serb.

ALBMCSE
300 of my family were killed by the nazi's 450 relatives were raped.See anyone can play your game.

They don`t deserve to get out of jail
anymore.They are sick people.
The real killers, even the regullar
serbian soldiers were affraid of them.
They deserve the very same treatment
like "Gnjilane group" terrorists.

We cannot live with each other at all not even as good neighbors until all criminals are in jail.
Killing 14 innocent people and getting 20 years of jail, deserve to be in Guinness Book. I don’t care if those criminals were Albanians, Turkish, Germans, Serbians or you name it. I do not care. I do care for the fact that those are innocent human been. Comparing numbers at this point does not matter and it is not logical. Does not matter whose has caught more or less criminals and place them behind bars but matters that everyone who gets caught get punished according to European laws that Kosovo and Serbia want to join so badly. People who have a heart should agree with me. A criminal has no nationality and deserve to be behind bars!
Albanians in Kosovo do need to do a better work on finding any Albanians that have committed crimes against any civilians, but at the same time most of criminals are in Serbia and at least let Serbia show the world that justice has come and Im sure that Albanians will follow. If not the present Kosovo government another one certainly will find those animals. Criminals behind bars if we want to leave the past behind and have a peaceful future.

It’s amazing what nationalism can do. The fact is that this does show some evidence that Serbia is ready to face its past. This should be congratulated by everyone. Now the punishment seems extremely light when one considers the gravity of the crime, but credit should be given where credit is due.

This sentence does not make the original crime irrelevant, and it does not prove Serbs are criminals. This is proof justice prevails in the long run. Hope those kids who survived prosper and find the courage to live a happy life. For children to have been a witness to this kind of crime is barbarism at is worst.

There are several critical points to take from this verdict. From the victims' side 20 years isn't enough. They should receive life sentences. However, and the second point, at least Serbia is sending war criminals to trial. If Kosovo ever desires to be an independent nation, it must also send any Kosovo Albanians to trial for the crimes they committed against Serbs.
(Daniel, 19 June 2009 13:46)

Every single K-Albanian accused for war crimes has voluntary gone to Hague. Every single one of them.

Please, if you know of any war criminals point your finger, gather your facts and go to Hague. Of course for Serbia every albanian leader is a "war criminal" and vice-versa, and Serbian justice upon the albanians is at best biased.

Let Hague tribunal trial war criminals of every nationality. I think everyone here has agreed that these "Serbian trials" are laughable at best, considering the sentences given.

So really you are not doing anyone a favor by trialing these monsters, and giving them these ridiculous sentences. This is insulting instead.

bganon

pre 14 godina

Well as I understand it 20 years was the maximum sentence so there is nothing to complain about regarding the judgement.

Of course to the victims families it will feel like nothing, their loved ones will never return.

I'm saddened by the reactions of some people here. Instead of joining each other to condemn war crimes and support a maximum sentence the case was used for political reasoning...

So, the only reason why these "Scorpions" made it all the way to jail is because of ONE Serb: Natasha Kandic.

It's a fact that some Serbian paramilitaries were involved in civilian massacres, but to claim that all Serbs should not exist because of it is just sick!
(Peter Sudyka, 19 June 2009 10:42)

You should tell your serbian friends about the "fact that serbian paramilitaries were involved" in these kind of crimes.

Most of them still believe that albanians were killed by NATO bombing, and no crimes were commited by serbs.

In no way I wish for serbs to "disappear", or I blame all of them as criminals. I simply do not wish to live under their rule and justice, and as you see I have learned it the hard way. I think I (albanians) have earned the right to independence with blood and suffering.

Every sane and normal mind in this world could never ask for the albanians to live in a state with such precedents.

This story has another side of medal , and I think we should discuss them as well. Evidences against those convicted in this trial were so strong that serbijan justice couldn't sent them free. It's not justice that prevailed here. What about so many crimes committed by serbian military forces which were not recorded with cams? Or that these criminals were wearing official government uniforms while they killed those civilians. Whas the serbian state as a suspected side in this trial as well? What about serbian voters who choose this government? Was their vote at trial as well? It's not that important that 4 murderers get verdicted at jail. What is important that everybody could see state of serbia was involved in those crimes all the time-and from the comments I read inhere, serbian ppl do not realize it and they are not prepared yet to admit their part of those crimes.
Or maybe someone thinks opposite??

Peggy

pre 14 godina

Reading the comments from team Albania I can see that until every last Serb is gone from this world they will not be satisfied. And they call Serbs racist.

Serbia has handed over many of their suspected criminals to Hague and sentenced many of their own to prison for crimes they committed.

Tell us team Albania, how many Albanians have been tried in Kosovo for crimes against the Serbs?
Are you saying that not one Albanian has committed a crime?

If you are not saying that, then how is your "country" dealing with their criminals?
When your courts start trial against Albanians for crimes against Serbs then and only then can you pass a judgment on how well Serbia is doing. So far Serbia is beating you by miles in this.

Have some decency and acknowledge your own crimes before you get up in arms about sentences handed down to the Serbs.
What about 2004? Has anyone been tried for the crimes committed then at least? This is way past the war so what on earth was your reason for doing what you did?

Daniel

pre 14 godina

There are several critical points to take from this verdict. From the victims' side 20 years isn't enough. They should receive life sentences. However, and the second point, at least Serbia is sending war criminals to trial. If Kosovo ever desires to be an independent nation, it must also send any Kosovo Albanians to trial for the crimes they committed against Serbs. The same is to be said for Bosnian Muslims and Croats. So far, whether the justice is adequate or is not adequate, Serbia is the only country that has taken any responsibility for its war crimes. I dare you to show me evidence where Serbians have not been punished by Serbia itself. Thus, this is a good verdict although not enough time in jail. Let's see if the other countries and Kosovo's Albanians can step up to the plate and do similarly with their war criminals.

20 years for killing 14 people....only in Serbia.

I would advise all the criminals in the world to move in Serbia so they too can have such a fair trial.

This jus shows how Serbia has changed ( if not at all ) and with such criminals the international comunity wants Kosovo Albanians to live in as multietnic country because I'm sure there's more in north Ibar side.

Last but not least here we have Serbian camp still trying to justify their action, with no remorse whatsoever...I hope that the day will come that we'll turn the favor back that all I can say to these people.

I do know about the specifics of this case, and some of the survivors. ironically i rec'd an email from one of the yng ladies today.

despite everything, she is doing so amazingly well. there is something deep inside of some people, where even after experiencing such a horrendous tragedy, they are able to grow, to prosper. she is such a person.

on the other hand, many such victims are devastated, physically, emotionally, in many ways. we have met many of those persons as well.

this case and verdict is not an example of the marvelous serbian justice system, believe me. of course it is better than 15 years ago, but that's not saying much. this case was promoted by natasa kandic from the get go, on many levels, and against the system at every step. but yes, there were some convictions. 20 years, whatever. nothing can bring them back, force people to admit guilt, force a nation to see where their leaders led them too. a living nightmare, and one we are not out of till this day.

i do agree that blgd should NEVER rule Kosovo/a again, nor will it. it is so self-evident, and i'm tired of fighting about it.

but to say that serbs should not exist? that serbs and ethnic albnians can NEVER live together? this i can never agree to, it is racist, it is dangerous. we do not need to internalize all of the hatred and mass murder from the 90s, and turn it against them. it solves nothing.

as a jew (and with a mother who survived while our extended family in poland was massacred) i am determined to keep the memories and truth alive, while at the same time trying to make peace with individual germans, poles etc. of whatever age. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. there has to be a willingness for them to admit and examine what really happened, to acknowlege our suffering on some level. otherwise the relationship probably won't work.

it is also something we are trying to pursue with palestinian individuals, arab individuals... it isn't so easy to acknowlege one another's realities, individuality. sometimes it works, sometimes not.

let's never forget these tragedies, and there were so many in kosovo/a. but just let's not use it as a club for more hatred. that's the last thing the world needs, much less the balkans.

thank you.

But of course, the "angelic" K-Albs never commited a war crime because no K-Albs have ever been found guilty of any wrong-doings.

It's easy to point fingers at other while what you really need to do is take a good look in the mirror. How many Serbs haven't you killed? What about during WW2 when you were best friends with the nazis. Or perhaps that doesn't count because it was long ago? You are nothing but hypocrites.

"The Albanians looted, robbed, burned Serbian houses and property; there were mass executions of Kosovo Serbs; Serbs were tortured, beaten, and humiliated; and there was the torture and killing of Serbian children and the rape of Kosovo Serb women."

"the German policy was to turn the Albanians loose on the Serbian population to murder, rob, and loot Serbian settlements."

What is happening in Kosovo is the fault of the Serbs themselves. Serbia should have sent back every single Kosovo Albanian after WW2.

What an intelligent comment- NOT!!! There is saying, "People who live in Glass Houses shouldn't throw stones". Serbia is the most multi-ethnic, tolerant and YES, CIVILIZED country in the region. Serbia is "civilized" enough to put on trial fellow Serbs who are accused of war crimes and deliver harsh sentences to them for their actions. But of course, the "angelic" K-Albs never commited a war crime because no K-Albs have ever been found guilty of any wrong-doings. Even though the KLA is known to be a terrorist organization; Oric, Thaci and Haradinaj were all aquitted of crimes against humanity- even though they openly revelled about their horrendous killing sprees against Serbs, etc ad naseum. When are K-Albs going to be accountable for their devious crimes against humanity??? Oh, I forgot, K-Albs live in a "fantasy world"- at least for now. The truth always eventually comes out when the fog lifts. And it's lifting now my friends.

I see all this whining about the sentence Serbs were handed for a war crime... this is funny considering that I have not once seen ANY Albanian court arrest, try, or convict any ethnic Albanian for war crimes committed during or after the war. Of course, of course, article wont tell you that those kids that are alive are alive thanks to regular mup special forces who saved them. if serbian forces wanted to kill albanian civilians how come those kids lived? this was just a miserable incident involving paramilitaries. our forces fought hard and right against terrorists and they'll do it again if necessary. but unfortunately there never was and never will be a clean war no matter who fights it. if paramils did crimes they should rot in jail, very simple. now lets see terror suspects in pristina like taci, haradinaj, ceku and others in their trials. lets not forget their victims werent 15 but in hundreds of innocent serb and other non albanian and even albanian civilians. For now at least we got the gnjilane lot in our custody.

To me as an albanian, it doesn't matter if Scorpions or lizards...., did this crime. It doesn't matter if Serbia punishes these people and if these punishments are laughable like this one (20 years for murdering 14 women and kids) or tougher. I don't expect justice to come from Serbia upon us.

What matters is that albanians must NEVER trust their lives to the Serbian state again. We must never allow ourselves to be slaughtered like sheeps from Serbia.

This is just another reminder why Serbia must never ever be trusted as the guardian of our lives and country.

Always the same - one rule for the Serbs and another for the rest! Paramilitaries in Kosovo are now in positions of authority, running the government, their crimes and reign of terror deemed to be of little importance to their western backers. Their terrible deeds escaping justice. However, time is a great leveller and the truth will out, hopefully sooner, rather than later.

20 years, whatever. nothing can bring them back, force people to admit guilt, force a nation to see where their leaders led them too. a living nightmare, and one we are not out of till this day.

i do agree that blgd should NEVER rule Kosovo/a again, nor will it. it is so self-evident, and i'm tired of fighting about it.

but to say that serbs should not exist? that serbs and ethnic albnians can NEVER live together? this i can never agree to, it is racist, it is dangerous. we do not need to internalize all of the hatred and mass murder from the 90s, and turn it against them. it solves nothing.

as a jew (and with a mother who survived while our extended family in poland was massacred) i am determined to keep the memories and truth alive, while at the same time trying to make peace with individual germans, poles etc. of whatever age. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. there has to be a willingness for them to admit and examine what really happened, to acknowlege our suffering on some level. otherwise the relationship probably won't work.

it is also something we are trying to pursue with palestinian individuals, arab individuals... it isn't so easy to acknowlege one another's realities, individuality. sometimes it works, sometimes not.

let's never forget these tragedies, and there were so many in kosovo/a. but just let's not use it as a club for more hatred. that's the last thing the world needs, much less the balkans.

thank you.

You have the whole world in Kosova. Yet the only ones who see these crimes are the Serbs or the Serb claiming to be an EULEX person who on the other previous posts claimed to be an UNMIK person. The rest must either be blind or have some crazy conspiracy theory against the Serbs; that somehow only the Serbs can see. Get real; your state ethnically cleansed 1 million people of their homes. They killed and murdered and slaughtered thousands. They burned and pillaged homes and robbed and destroyed these people's lives.

3 people killing 14 people. So for one person that each of them killed they received 6 years in prison. Is that what you call justice? You get a harsher sentences in most countries for killing

Peggy

I hate all criminals regardless of their ethnic origin who can kill civilians, especially children. Still I can say that this trial was possible because there are Serbs who are ready to testify against "their" criminals, while it's impossible (according to Carla del Ponte) to find out Albanians who agree to testify against KLA.

You should tell your serbian friends about the "fact that serbian paramilitaries were involved" in these kind of crimes.

Most of them still believe that albanians were killed by NATO bombing, and no crimes were commited by serbs.

In no way I wish for serbs to "disappear", or I blame all of them as criminals. I simply do not wish to live under their rule and justice, and as you see I have learned it the hard way. I think I (albanians) have earned the right to independence with blood and suffering.

Every sane and normal mind in this world could never ask for the albanians to live in a state with such precedents.
