Some comments like the comment of the "Alban" above, just show the envy that Albanians have towards Greece and the Greeks.

Greece is a country that is is one of the 25 richest countries worldwide, Greece has an economy with a Gdp similar ot that of Italy and Spain, and in every aspect it is considered one of the most developed countries.

These are the reasons that Greece has more than a million economic immigrants from Albania, as well as other countries from eastern Europe and the rest of the world. Of course it has criminality problems, like Italy (mafia), Spain (ETA), and USA (simply everything...). But this has nothing to do with how much developed the country really is.

Keep going Albos. Comments like the above just show how much envy you feel about Greece. Propbably in 30 years time, you (trully) 3rd world Albania, will be like Greece is today. That is so, if you have fast growth for 30 years of course...

It is really amusing to read some albanian comments on this forum and the way they call some economically, moraly and culturally far more advanced countries black holes and 3rd world countries.
Albos comment as if they were the hub of the universe a founder of EU NATO,and a tottally crime-free country while in the reality even in my town Budapest the capitol of Hungary they are the leading criminals involved in drug-business,human-trafficking,blackmailing,and murders. They remind me a hungarian proverb Bagoly mondja verébnek, hogy nagyfejû meaning The owl tells the sparrow that it has big head.

My condolences to the policeman's family. He was doing a thankless job protecting a witness and he was repaid by being murdered by these Greek thugs.
Greece has issues but a 3rd world country is a bit of a stretch Alban. Why don't you look into your own backyard?
Greece is a stabilising nation in the Balkans that pours millions of Euros into every economy north of them including Albania, FYROM, and Bulgaria.
Greece was even paying the salaries of the Albanian police for a while while they went thorugh a near bankruptcy.

Greece is a third world country in many aspects. A lot of crime and killings happened in Albania (1997) Serbia and Kosova right after the wars but Greece is constant: bombings, killings, riots...
(Alban, 17 June 2009 15:49)

If that is the case why do Albanians try to get into Greece by any possible means?

Alban

I would disagree.

Spain has terrorism issues, so did Germany in the 70's, and the UK until the 90's.

Greece does have some oddities in its system of government, but it does not make it a third world country. In fact, I'd worry more about Italy at the moment. Under Berlusconi, the independence of the judiciary system is under attack and the media is not free as Berlusconi pretty much owns the TV waves.

In any case, the current government in Greece should really take a much heavier handed approach with these anarchic bastards even if it costs it popularity at home.
Nothing compares to having peace of mind.
