Last time I checked, China had about $2 Trillion in cash. Since we all know that money is power, support from China bodes very well for Serbia.

It will be interesting to see how the western media spins the "Kosovo independence" issue in the next year or two. My guess is that when the ICJ rules in favor of Serbia, western support for Kosovo will rapidly fade. Then with Kosovo's membership in the IMF and World Bank, it will get "more than autonomy, but less than independence." Sound familiar?

Peggy,

I am pleased of putting a smile in your face. But it is Serbia who is asking to still negotiate the Kosova status. As far as I am aware the status issue is already closed with Ahtisari Plan. That is why I am suggesting that before Serbia ask for any negotiation should accept Kosova's independence first. Then there can be negotiations regarding Friendship agreements, free movement of goods and people, common policies in fighting the crime.....

EA, I'm glad I could put a smile on your face but you are just not getting it.

The A plan was dead before it was born. It will never be debated in the UN because it has no chance of acceptance so why do you keep bringing it up?

Status is not determined regardless of what you say. Until UN puts a stamp of approval on it, it doesn't matter what you or your masters say. So you see you have a lot to talk about without your demands of Serbia accepting this "status solved" rubbish.

"If you truly believe in negotiations why do you need Serbia to recognize Kosovo before them? What is the point of negotiating and what would they negotiate on if not status?

You are a funny guy.

The West wants to pull out of Kosova so Serbia must choose what side to join. Tadic will have to decide within 2 years. Let's see if Serbs want to join EU or not. Faced with the ultimatum Tadic let EULEX in and has forgotten about the "6 points."

Things are actually looking better now, the west has to speak with one voice as they say and Serbia will be pressured.
(Alban, 17 June 2009 20:38)

Alban - recognition of Kosovo and EU - are two different things. Do You hear Joe Biden?? USA "not expect Serbia to recognise Kosovo as independent". Same France and other EU countries. Will be any pressure from EU for recognition of Kosovo. Serbia will join EU - and at this moment Thaci's dreams about european integration will be irreversible crushed ;)

We all agree on that but Serbia is not interested in real negotiations because hasn't recognise Kosova's independence yet. When Serbia changes attitude...than there is room to talk.
(EA, 17 June 2009 20:17)

EA, with an outcome already determined (according to you) why bother negotiating?
We have already had that with A plan.

Ummmm.... who owns the very, very vast majority of the USA debt?

China a wild guess??

The US is running on empty... they want to wash their hands of Kosovo!

And i've been working in sakhalin and other parts of Russia.... they defenlty ain't short of natural resources!! and money as western media would like us to believe!

So, its not just Russia after all - as many Kosovo Albanians would like to believe. Pristina may have the support of many of the world's richest states (although many of those have only recognised the UDI with utmost reluctance), but with China and Russia on Serbia's side there is no hope of Kosovo ever joining the UN or the international community at large.

You think we'll surrender that fast? Ha!

“The issue of Kosovo relates to important principles of international law, and China has therefore decided to submit its written opinion to the International Court of Justice, outlining its basic position on this matter,” he underscored.'

Those are very strong words coming from the world's most populous nation, and the country that is buying most of the US debt (which is enormous and out of control).

We only need the Russian veto which guarantees Kosovo will never get UN membership and will never be a state. Having China firmly behind us is just an added bonus. Thank you China for your principled stand and your defense of international law, territorial integrity, and the stop of this greedy, immoral imperialism.
Cheers!!
