I find it funny how serbia thinks it can align with Iran and Russia and still get in EU. USA gave you a break and EU a way of maybe getting Visas but their plans are the same. Goodwill gesture requires reciprocity or else..

I find it funny how the US fight Al Qaeda in the middle east but help them in Kosovo

If the govts of undecided countries listened to Jeremics speech at the UNSC, recognitions should double in the next 30 days.
It must truly embarassing for a country to get up and try to paint the fact that they had been stripped of all authority in what they call a province as a positive thing.
Similar to a parent saying I want to thank the court for stripping me of all my Parental authority.
But I must admit that I have been to comedy clubs where the performers did not do as well!

That reminds me of a radio interview I heard before they declared independence. Some US State Department official was asked how the Kosovo economy would survive when its people could no longer claim persecution in order to obtain permission to live and work abroad to send home remittances. The official answered, blandly, that they had faith in the Albanians to continue to find a way, as they always had.

Who are you kidding? Almost everyone in the Balkans is trying to leave to find work!

Thank you b92 for providing an opportunity to download the full report.

"The number of voluntary returns in 2009 is gradually increasing, even though
it remains disappointingly low and continues to lag behind the 2008 figures.
According to UNHCR estimates, 137 displaced community members, including
24 Kosovo Albanians, 30 Kosovo Serbs and 54 Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians,
voluntarily returned to Kosovo between January and April. During the same period,
936 individuals were involuntarily returned to Kosovo from Western Europe, an
increase of 27.3 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2008. Of these,
40 persons belong to minority communities."

I'd like to point out that 936 mostly Albanian individuals were INvoluntarily returned to Kosovo from Western Europe. In other word, a lot of Albanians tried to flee Kosovo last year to Europe, but were returned. Many conclusions can be drawn - about Europe-Kosovo "special relationship", about what REALLY Albanians think about life in Kosovo (but not what some posters tell us) etc...

Ending UNMIK but keeping bondsteel there will be a difficult sell for the us. The Russians will link UNMIK to kfor/nato; if one goes, so does the other. I wonder how the uk will behave now that the us dumped Guantanamo inmates into Bermuda without asking permission from london. Should be a lively session. The price of oil is going up again; Russia is getting more money.

I find it funny how serbia thinks it can align with Iran

Yes, it's correct - last time I checked, Belgrade streets were full of Ahmadinejad's Islamic guards marching, wearing the green banner of Serbian faith and red banner of Serbian mujaheddins ready to sacrifice their life for Allah.

This is, inshallah, Serbia and you know, the local Serbian custom is to enjoy this kind of meal

before tasting the sweetness of shaheed (self-sacrificing martyr) for Allah.

no way an Albanian will be presenting Kosovo at the UN. Abkhazia can't do the same. With Serbian oppression of more this but less of this, this would never be possible. Thanks Ban. Maybe mr hyseni can call on the wolf and ask jim not to threat the world as it is stupidly ignorant

A famous paper wrote today how EU is less than thrilled with Serbia: all they hear is neutrality (EU = NATO,) Kosova (22/27 recognize it) and ICJ (many support Kosova) even after Tadic was elected on the EU platform.
