I agree with Peggy on this.

of course, every K-albanian has the right to obtain a serbian passport as long as he can prove he was a citizen of the yugoslav state and afterwards of Serbia and Montenegro, not to speak of Serbia itself as the successor-state.

many Albanians will have documents which prove that, and that is okay. but confronting them with some measures and standards which they cannot fulfill shows that they are not wanted.

and exactly that is it, what let´s their future-perspective look quite shabby.

Serbia will prevail, and perhaps there will not be fired a single shot to restore serbian sovereignty over the southern province.

it´s all just a question of time.

let´s just see what future brings.

Now, of course, had all 27 members recognized Kosovo, it would be a completely different story. I still maintain that it should have been all or nothing when it came to Kosovo recognition, because this lukewarm state that Kosovo finds itself in now is of no help to anyone!

Dulo

If I was in Kosovo, and I could get a Serbian passport with no need of visa to travel, I will apply for it. I am sure the same thing would be considered by the Serbian citizen obtaining a Kosovar passport. If I am to escape poverty for me and my family, it wouldn't make much difference on wich passport I will be travelling.

My point is, to stop these things happening, eg. serbia issuing their passports to kosovars or vice versa. It would create unnecessary confusion. Both Serbia and Kosovo (do not think Serbia 'with' Kosovo) will be considered for 'white schengen', is simultaneously. After all they are neighbours and were a same state not long ago.

Otherwise why have these 22 counries recognising Kosovo in the first place. It would make more sence then if they said that Kosovar independence is then 'not' ireversible, instead as wavering flags and shouting the contrary.

All newspapers want to sell papers, the more contraversial the merrier. The thing is that a lot of newsreporting in the balkans makes no sence.

My God, you sneeze and you blame Serbia for getting a cold. If you took time to read the article you would know that it is the EU (your pals) who don't want you to obtain a Serbian passport easily. Now go and get angry with them and stop using every single thing that doesn't go you way as a reason why to want to separate. Be honest for once.
(Peggy, 15 June 2009 22:15)

I am not really sure, Mehill Gjon 100% understands the topic. This topic precisely about the fact that it turned out there is a wolf inside of sheep's skin and some of these "friendly" West European politicians is not that friendly at all. They do not object if Albanians get Serbian passports, but they try to push Serbia in a situation when it cannot issue BIOMETRIC passports to these Albanians and it will give them an excuse not to let these Albanians to travel visa-free.

And at last: the "biometric" passports do not increase the security to any degree. The "benefits" of biometric passports are a huge lie.

Please look at the map:

http://tinyurl.com/nf6ray

We can see, countries like ABC (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay), Japan do not have biometric passports and Canada has for diplomats only. They are only planed for Croatia. Despite of it the citizens of these countries can travel to EU visa-free.

Otherwise read that,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biometric_passport

in particular the "Attacks" and "Opposition" and see, what these government idiots did force upon us.

And surprise-surprise: with biometric passport insanity the last bastion of reason on European continent is... Belarus. Not that I am a great fan of Lukashenko, but sometimes he has it just right.

It looks to me like Albanians are a little upset that their Serbian friends are finally able to freely travel to the EU and they aren't. Well, Croats were able to travel to the EU for 15 years and we Serbs had to stand by a take the visa humiliation every day of the week. Now it's Albanians' turn to watch the Serbs freely traveling around EU.

I agree. With friends like the EU 22 who needs enemies. However, as we made a mistake of counting our chickens on Feb 17th you shouldn't make the same mistake.
(Bekim, 15 June 2009 21:48)

You say precisely what I do, but I would excuse Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Baltic ex-USSR Republics.

These countries:

#1: recognized Kosovo after some heavy arm-twisting
#2: are known to push for visa abolishment for entire Balkan peninsula.

Isn't it odd, that who does not want to recognize Kosovo or is doing it reluctantly has no problem to welcome Albanians. But who was championing the recognitions - shows you the middle finger as soon as it's about the deeds. Hypocrisy at it's highest.

For us here as long as you do not violate the local habits you are welcome to travel and stay as long as you want.

Peggy

I expected as much from Serbia. Serbia wishes to call Albanian Kosovars citizens of Serbia, but continues to discriminate against them by making it difficult to obtain Serbian visas. Who needs a Serb visa when we have our own. Albania will be on the Schengen White List before Serbia because of the vindictive way Serbia is behaving!

More proof that independence for Kosova was the right decision by the USA and the EU. I rest my case.
(Michael John, 15 June 2009 20:46)

Well, those five countries are the only voice of reason and the only ones who uphold the law. What is wrong with them? Just because you get a mob doesn't mean you are right. A lynch mob is very wrong and that is exactly what most of European countries have become.

I smell somewhat much more rotten (the one you smell is OK, EU is at least officially not a dictatorship).

But look again. EU does not want to prevent Serbia to issue Serbian passports to K-Albanians. But they try to make it technically as difficult as possible with bogus biometric demands. Basically they say: "It's fine if you regard them as Serbs, but we don't want them". Read the article.

With such "friends" you do not need enemies.

But look at your declared "enemy". They have no demands for that and if traveling between Minsk in Belarus and Moscow is what you want - you can do it daily and visa-free, without that idiotic biometric passport, the old one is just fine.

Think a bit, who is racist and discriminating than.

To the credit of "East" Europeans, they want the visas being abolished universally even now, Kosovo included. But the "western" EU countries are thinking other way.
