A very sad though perhaps predictable ending to the elections in iran, where the Interior Ministry (acc to cnn) is in charge of election results, enough said.

And according CNN Budapest = Beograd and Bratislava = Ljubljana. I would not trust that joke of the agency blindly. I won't trust ANY agency blindly.

---------------

it is, of course, a mistake to demonize an entire people, an entire nation

Nothing to demonize, they are who they are. Americans, too elected an evil figure twice in the row. Mildly speaking, Iranians are behind our expectations. We have to face the fact: their average is significantly behind what we are expecting and not much you can do about. C'est la vie, we can't change their (IMO very backwards) mindset.

All I can testify, Iranian food is much better than American. Having better food than Safeway-way is NOT a big achievement per se, but Iranian food is pretty good. Also few Iranian supervisors I had, were very decent guys. But not the mullahs.

but the flowering and flourishing of democracy there, esp by the many young people, was and is incredibly exciting, and we all should support and welcome that.

it is, of course, a mistake to demonize an entire people, an entire nation. there is a difference btwn people and govt, and in some cases a very deep gulf.

i hope that ahmadinejan is at least somewhat subdued and moderated by all of this, but there is no indication of that.

the struggle goes on.
