If Internattional law were only about property ownership as you seem to think Ron, this would be a sad world indeed.
What is good for Kosova or Kosovo whichever anyone prefers is good for the whole world. A life free of fear and oppression is not only a legal but a moral obligation of the international community. In todays times, A country which openly engages in genocide cannot be rewarded for their sins. Kosovo is lost to Serbia forever.

International law is much more important then Kosovo.

You agree with me?
(Ron, 12 June 2009 16:45)

No law is more important than human lifes. No law stands above people. No law is given from God (that was the stance in the Middle Ages, and the stance of ultraconservatives today).

As one of the most serious problems, Ban highlights the controversy over visits by Serbian officials to the province, and the Kosovo authorities’ insistence that representatives of the government in Belgrade may not enter the province without the permission of the “Kosovo Foreign Ministry
Ironically while mentioning this fact in the report it is not referred to as a problem??

Matrix Kosova,

Dear friend. You only talk about what is good foor Kosovo, but what is good for others? For the world?

Come on! Kosovo is just a tiny province. International law is much more important then Kosovo.

not for nothing... regardless of what side of the fence you are on, Ban Ki-moon is the most inept Secretary-General general ever.

It is a bit late to discuss about relations between Kosova and UN! I do understand Mr Ban, because through UNMIK, they achieved to steal taxes of all UN countries but to steal also from Kosovo budget. Anyhow, it is time now that this robbers go home now and spend the money which they stole in Kosovo. Hope EULEX staff is more profesional since they are only from EUROPE. Regarding UN recognition, of course Kosovo need that but it will come to that stage soon while Mr Ban will then change his statements which are affected by Serbia.
And moral of this what I am saying is that, even that UN did not recognize Kosovo yet, or some EU countries like Spain, we still have to thank them - specially Spain since it was them who discovered America - and that was enough for Kosovo.
What to do - such is life!

You are absolutely right!

Until they start enforcing resolutions certain groups and countries are not going to give the UN due respect.

No need for any resolution, 1244 is just fine.

Pristina can thumb its nose at the UN as long as it continues to kid itself that it doesn't want UN membership. Not that it can enter anyway in view of the very determined Chinese and Russian vetoes. Ask Taiwan if you don't believe me, and Taiwan is a rich country unlike "Kosova".

And Serbia is the paragon of cooperation. Like I said above, have the UN pass another resolution if they see it as a problem. Why doesn't Zanier declare the Kosova independence null and void if it's "illegal" or if he doesn't agree? UN has done so before 2/18/2008 in Kosova!!!

-- "Serbian government is lucky here. Their opponents in Kosovo are well-predicable and not particularly skilled - so they are outmaneuvered.

Yes, Ataman, another "diplomatic victory for Serbia"! A few more such victories from the "skilled Serbs" and we will be full UN members.

---You are right on the spot Sir, but you can not blame the Albanians. They are not skilled at all dealing with this kind of matter. It takes decades after decades to have skills and knowledge

So what has Serbia got with its "skills" lately? Nothing. Just sanctions and lost Kosova. Any visa are for fully cooperating with EULEX which was created to support an Independent Kosova.

Thanks for the advice guys, we really appreciate it but we'll skip it. judging by your responses, looks like we're doing something right. See you once Serbia gets close to EU.

You are right on the spot Sir, but you can not blame the Albanians. They are not skilled at all dealing with this kind of matter. It takes decades after decades to have skills and knowledge. But its not their fault. When Pristina is ignoring Zannier, they dont understand that they are ignoring the whole world which Zannier represent, ie the United Nations. (One can easily get it out of the name...UNITED nations). This is nearly 200 states in the world. As I have experienced and heard from many high level people from East to West, the Kosovo question goes nothing but backwards since a while. I dont care what people here thinks or believe. I have first hand info and to tell you the truth, many people think that when ICJ comes with their verdict, even if its not binding, a handful of states will withdraw their recognition and a handful more will before the verdict recognize. Then what ?! Nothing !! Kosovo will be in limbo forever and be black hole for Europe and US to pay to get people stay there, because in the future, there will be few jobs in Europe since the eastern states that are already in EU, have or will take the jobs. Diplomats and leaders discuss this frequent. As you have already read, EU wants Serbia to get Schengen visa in the near future, but absolutely not Kosovo. Why? Because Kosovos statehood is not recognised internationally, there are a huge amount of criminality, many war criminals that Eulex will intercept in the future are among the population (thats one of the 10 main purposes of Eulex, to enlighten you if you didnt know this before). As Ataman writes, and this is true, the world are certainly observing that ministers are denied access at the boundary. I said boundary by purpose, because according to UN, EU and others, there are no borders to Serbia because......Yes, true, Kosovo is not a country yet.

pss

pre 14 godina

It will be interesting to see how accurate the story is once the report actually comes out. For instance Ban has always been very careful not to refer to Kosovo as a province nor a state. Thus the phrase status neutral.
of course this in itself is a win for Kosovo. Serbia insists on status neutrality in UN and EULEX meaning that neither recognize Kosovo as a province of Serbia.

kate

I actually agree with the 'other side' for once - what are you going to do about it, Ban? You have a regional government in a UN protectorate ignoring the body admistering and funding the province.

That makes the situation officially a mess which has to be put right, both in terms of credibility and stability.

The only way that this situation will ever be fixed is when the US gets behind real negotiations between Pristina and Belgrade.

The UN Security Council can play a strong hand if that if they choose.

What to do - such is life!

not for nothing... regardless of what side of the fence you are on, Ban Ki-moon is the most inept Secretary-General general ever.

It will be interesting to see how accurate the story is once the report actually comes out. For instance Ban has always been very careful not to refer to Kosovo as a province nor a state. Thus the phrase status neutral.
of course this in itself is a win for Kosovo. Serbia insists on status neutrality in UN and EULEX meaning that neither recognize Kosovo as a province of Serbia.
