Well Lenard in the case of NIS it turned out that somebody was laughing at all of us because the books of NIS showed a loss last year.
IMO they knew about this when they sold the company to the Russians. What is more nobody is investigating, instead the company was rather quickly sold off to the Russians.

What I'm getting at here is that 'we' are in this game too. In other words our governments (Serbian, Croatian) are as keen to rob 'our' citizens as the US, EU and Russia is.

But you know the fact is that the EU, US and Russia can screw us and there is nothing we can do about it. In fact (forgetting all our internal reasons for the collapse of Jug) we the former nations of Jug have to take responsibility for making ourselves weaker.

I'm very familiar with Pliva and the battle between European Actavis and US Barr. That was a fun bidding war with all kinds of corporate espionage going on behind the scenes. In the end Barr won, which I think was a mistake by Pliva management influenced by pro US politcians, you will know who I mean I suppose.

However, Pliva (Barr) didn't do as badly as I feared and the upside is that Serbian Zdravlje Actavis still exists. Had Actavis succeeded in aquiring Pliva their Serbian operation would have been closed down and headquarters moved to Croatia.

Actually I think we are in agreement by your latest post. In the end you are talking about problems you have with the current system in international relations.

What you must not forget is that we are weak and an easy target - particularly because 'we' spend more time fighting each other while outsiders take advantage.

raso Serbia is full of money?

Heh, you had me going there for a minute....

As for renationalising companies, do you have Cuban standards in mind? I'll take the standard in healthcare but I've seen how they live.

Nobody serious wants that for Serbia.

Now I'm waiting for Lenard's theory...

All I'm saying that country's think they can rip off the Balkans. Like in Croatia they wanted the EU country's to buy Pliva for 700 million. That even for that price they said they were being very generous and that is good at it gets. When Croatia put it on the world market they got 2.3 billion. Even Russia offered less to the Serbian energy sector infrastructure then its real book value at least 50 to 60% less and Serbia took it. They said they did that because Russia is going to build a pipeline and storage. If its a good deal for Russia it would of paid the world price to transport its energy threw Serbia and on to western Europe. With the stipulation of improving the energy sector . Even with complaints of the Serbian ministers in charge of finance and energy that Serbia was being riped off on the price of course they were overruled. Any ways I don't agree of selling off profitable companies the profits then leave your country to make other country's richer at your expense. No I don't mind aid if it dosnt have ridicules strings attached to it. Also their is money out their you have to be creative of it coming to your country. No I don't advocate resurrection of Yugo. Almost every one felt in it they were being ripped off ignored taken advantage of by the others and lot of deadly aminocety developed over it. Lets see how they do but they can cooperate when it makes sense it is mutely beneficial for all.

serbia is full of money, just renationalize all western bought companies that acknowledged kosovo.

if they can´t read an atlas, then they should make their money in the pseudo-state ...

serbia has to borrow cause your ds stole the companies from its workers and sold it under value ...

Lenard what are you suggesting - that Serbia should reject Russian investment / aid and EU investment / aid and US investment / aid?

I mean I simply don't understand what it is you are advocating? Are you suggesting that countries such as Serbia (and Croatia) should cut themselves off from the world and everything will be just great?

Are you implying that Serbia and Croatia were better off inside the same country to prevent these larger powers having so much influence?

Please answer this question because I'm genuinely interested.

What Serbia has already sold all of its things to the Russians at a fire sale price. I guess friendship is very expensive these days now Serbia has to come cup in hand. All you had to do Serbia is pretend and say you want to join the EU. Then close to 300 million euros in ascension funds would be coming in every year more than Russia ever offered. Don't forget to show some intreset in Bush's battle on terror good for another 100 million. Who is Serbia's finance minister any way tell him to get more creative.

Tadic just came back from France to announce his 'strategic' cooperation with Sarkozy but begs money from, well - Russia.

Don't worry, serbia has borrowed from everyone that was willing to lend them. The west gave them at least 3 billion EUR but cut them off.

Cut the spending, don't borrow to support the budget

So chickens are coming home to roost. What a climb down for our european satraps. Tadic just came back from France to announce his 'strategic' cooperation with Sarkozy but begs money from, well - Russia.
(BTW, no sooner did Tadic return home, Kouchner announced France's firm support for 'Kosova' with a projected Sarkozy's visit- our Boris sure knows how to pick friends)

raso I think that if the Russian aid would go towards helping the Serbian economy you would welcome it. Unless of course you don't have the interest of Serbian citizens at heart.

Personally I'm pleased when money comes into Serbia for investment.

BTW I found your unfortunate appeal to Russians not to give them a 'single cent' very revealing about your cultural influence.

If I had made the statement it would have been 'not a single dinar' or 'not a single rouble'.

pretty dangerous for our american vasals in belgrade, russia borrows value and not worthless paper from the cellar of fed ...

we´ve seen what happens to states that don´t get a credit / "will-survive-stamp" from russia ...

ukraine is bancrupt, the baltikum states now have pre-1989-status and don´t forget that after russian no the then failed state of island had to fill for eu-membership (as a civilized country !!!).

why should russia save this government? politicians that without reason or economic logic turned west and stopped russia?

please russians, don´t give em a single cent, cause it´s us that has to live with the self-declared election-winners around tadic ...

Glad to see such great cooperation and investment by our brothers and sisters in Russia. Serbia should look to the East and forget about joining Europe. Remember who bombed us for 78 days only to steal 12% or our territory. With strong Russian backing the US will change its policy towards Serbia and will eventually stop its bullying of our nation and give up its occupation of our land.
