Lenard its all very well to quote the old testament but unless you are a catholic fundamentalist you will realise that the new testament also has a lot to say about forgiveness and vengence which contradicts the old testament.

I can give you those quotes if you want but anybody can look it up, or anybody knows who learned this.

There is no evidence that capital punishment prevents murder, yes I stand by my statement and not by your reinterpretation.

You say that if the man was murdered by the state he would not have killed again. I say that if the man was put in prison for life he would not have killed again. But you would prefer to kill him right?

As far as thinking twice and this amateuristic thinking - 'if I wanted to murder somebody I...' does not work in reality. In crimes of passion you tend not to think 'oh wait I must not murder because I will be killed'. And in many other cases for example gangs in the states if you do not murder you stand a good chance of being killed. How about war? Do you fancy telling your commander in the Krajina that you don't want to set the house of a Serb on fire because there might be somebody hiding in the basement? War is not murder you say? Rubbish, the effects are the same. Or say one is a sick serial killer I'm sure a person would stop and think 'no I must not kill, they will kill me...'.

Last of all studies have been carried out showing that capital punishment does not have a detterent effect. Not your or my amateur thinking on the subject.

Lets cut the crap and talk about the real reason that capital punishment is used in the US (or Iran etc) it is cheaper.

What do you think God would have to say that as a reason for capital punishment?

We know the answer in our hearts.

Murder is either wrong or right. If the state can do it, then thats an example to the rest of us.

bganon, 8 June 2009 -I do not support the death penalty for a number of reasons - the innocent get murdered by mistake, there is no evidence that it prevents murder and I believe that God is the one who makes that kind of judgement, not us. Yes the innocent get murdered, most of all the innocent victims of the murderers. No God said for man to uphold justice and laws this is one of the basic of what God says in his word the bible. Genesis 9:6

6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man. Numbers 35:29 " 'These are to be legal requirements for you throughout the generations to come, wherever you live.

30 " 'Anyone who kills a person is to be put to death as a murderer only on the testimony of witnesses. But no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

31 " 'Do not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer, who deserves to die. He must surely be put to death.

33 " 'Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. You said there is no evidence that it prevents murder: My point begs to differ if he was executed the first time when he committed his first murder their would be no more new murdered victims now of Božidar Nikolić. So it dose work and prevents future murders. They would also think twice and be in fear of killing if in no certain terms society says their life will be forfeited for the murder they commit.

'If Serbia had the death penalty Božidar Nikolić would of bean executed the first time he killed he would of for sure not killed anymore'

Would he? Well look back at how many time people were executed in Jugoslavija's past when the death penalty was legal... Still think that he would have been executed? Perhaps after the third murder, but not likely before.

So Lenard I suppose this is just another one of your points again the EU right? You are almost as persistent as Mircea, but for the other side.

I do not support the death penalty for a number of reasons - the innocent get murdered by mistake, there is no evidence that it prevents murder and I believe that God is the one who makes that kind of judgement, not us.

BTW one of the problems in the Balkans is that life is not valued enough - whether that is concerning how many people killed on the roads or how many innocents were killed during the wars.

What we need to be doing is to prevent people from dying in the first place, not killing more people.

If Serbia had the death penalty Božidar Nikolić would of bean executed the first time he killed he would of for sure not killed anymore. 2 more victims of this deranged cold blooded killer would be now living and their families would not be weeping. That is why they call it the criminal justice system. The criminals and murders get all the justice the victims and their grieving families get hardly any or nothing. More then not they are even more victimized also by the so called justice system. This injustice system is big business for the ones in it but not for the tax paying citizens and the poor victims. The criminal justice system sure don't like when you rock their luxurious boat or hold them accountable for their decisions of letting criminals and murderers run free to victimize again and again society.
