I like to remember the days when you didin't need a passport to visit Croatia,Slovenia, Crno-Gora...the good ol' days. We (jugoslavs) sold ourselves to the "west" piece by piece, it saddens me.

I feel, this year will be a pretty tough on vacations. What does decide is the wallet - but even with tight budget there could be a lot of fun. Luckily, the travel is much cheaper in the area than we used to in the States.

Sample: my youngest kid was with the school near Austrian/German/Swiss tripple border for a week. The school arranged it miraculously for under $150.

In USA the same would cost at least 20 times more. OK, without the flight that would be "only" 10 times more. The reason: here, two schools just agreed to cooperate. "There" they (Americans) would ask a travel office to help and there is a question of liability for the principal, too (virtually unknown here, including the "hazard" of frivolous lawsuits).

A new highway between Kosovo and Albania. Great, but it's still going to take weeks to get there for albanians in Kosovo since a majority still has horse and carriage. Besides they can't even afford food much less to go anywhere outside their village.

They are "fighting" over Serbs because you are landlocked and Danube "beaches" are muddy. Crna Gora is opening the consulate in summer FYI but most K-Albs and FYRO-ans come to Albania.

Even if you go to Montenegro you will support Albanians, almost 100% of Ulqin is Albanian from when Crna Gora occupied it. 95% of Serbs can;t afford Greece or Spain, you must go either to Albania or another country that supports Kosovo.

Zoran

Yep, I have seen those billboards around Belgrade but it is not going to convince me to go anywhere near those places. Montengero was on my list of places to revisit but since recognition of Kosovo they have no chance. It's a shame really.

This year it will be Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia and Romania.

Bulgaria,Greece,Cyprus,Romania and even cruise to Australia and republica srpska or even go to other parts of serbia and spend money where you are and help the economy. but croatia you must be joking i would not go there even if they gave me a free flight, and Slovenia is nice but a small coastal and too far north

Greece certainly sounds good this time of year.
(peter, sydney, 31 May 2009 16:08)

It surely would Peter, if the Serbian citizen didn't need a visum for Greece, and if Greece had better prices than the nearest and cheapest destinations on the Adriatic coast.

Ha! All of them can go play on a freeway during peak our. I'm going back to Australia and everyone else i know is either going to italy, greece, cyprus or bulgaria. Any other time they're slashing our tyres, stealing our number plates and vandalising our vehicles....its only when they need money that they turn to us.

People should join me in Australia, now thats a place.

And Repbulika Srpska is a reallly nice place. Hope to go again. Went to a place called Etno Selo, it was so nice.

I would rather go on a 10 day vacation to the Gaza strip or with an anti-bin Laden t-shirt in Northern Pakistan than spend my vacation in Croatia, Slovenia or Montenegro.
I knew one day these would come crawling on their knees. Have they no shame?

none of those places are interesting except Slovenia but they have a small coast and its far but Greece,Cyprus,Bulgaria sound very good close and cheaper. and croatia you must be kidding they only come to the Serbs when its ruff times. NO THANX TO THEM never to croatia.

This might be a catchy promotion for albanians from Slovenia or Croatia: Huge sprawling estate for you and your closest 100, gun check in available, early checkout preferred. 100% non refundable deposit prior to arrival. Thompson tickets available upon request 6 months prior to arrival date.

Go to Greece, Cyprus or Spain my friends. They are much better allies and friends than our so called 'brothers' in Montenegro, who have a knife firmly in our back. As for Croatia or Slovenia, come on now. They have never been friends, and let them rely on their German tourists that they love so much. They will certainly not see a penny from me.

Yaroslav

pre 14 godina

Another reason not to go.

Notice how the Croats only want tourists from the large markets of Ukraine and Russia (combined close to 200 million people) only when their Bavarian overlords aren`t coming.

This shows why Serbs and all Slavs should boycott Croatia.

Yaroslav

pre 14 godina

No.

These countries love to treat Serbs like subhumans during regular tourist seasons but now when their precious Germans and in Montenegro`s case westerners and Russians don`t come they try to get Serbs.

Let`s see. Well Croatia is by far the worst offender. We just need to remember what happenned during the football championships, the ``random acts`` of violence against Serbs in Croatia and so on.

Slovenia. Same thing, just far less then Croatia. I mean honestly how many Serbs will actually go given that you need a schengen visa, the place is more expensive then the other two, they are strict on issuing visa`s and of course their coastline is what a tenth the size of Montenegros.

And then theirs Montenegro. Well half the population actually loves Serbia, and regardless of the fact that only 3% of Serbs want to go to Montenegro for vacation the majority of tourists will be Serb. But these campaigns are not led by those who love Serbia but those who hate Serbia, increased prices to discourage Serb cutomers and who were talking of how they can survive without Serbian tourists (they are those who only love Serbia when money goes into their pockets).

The fact is that polls indicate that close to 80% of Serbs would rather go somewhere else with Greece, Bulgaria (EU states who rather liberally give Serbs visas unlike Slovenia), Turkey and even Egypt.

When the people of Slovenia, Croatia and the other half of Montenegro start treating Serbs like human beings then we should go their. For now, Greece and Bulgaria sound much better.

They can fight as much as they want, I am not going to any of these countries for holidays.
Slovenia is too much in the north and has a very tiny coast, Croatia has Thompson, extremely obnoxious folk and sharks in the sea, and Montenegro is too filthy.
Will go some place south where people are friendly and sky is clear and where they will actually like me for being from Serbia and not just my money.

When I was young, I grew up on the Beaches of Dubrovnik. After getting married, my wife and I spent summers in Budva with our brothers in Montenegro.

My shadow and money will never return to either of these coasts. Perhaps it's time to try out the Crimean Peninsula.
